Hi everybody! I'm a long time lurker but this is my first post...

I've been playing RO on and off since 2007 but it always drags me back. IMO it's the best FPS ever made, and my favorite game of all time after Super Mario. I'm a little tired so if you need clarification just ask!

1) When someone hits voice command for "We need MG support!" or "We need a sniper!" If you are currently occupying that respective role there should be an icon on the map indicating where that support was requested... I bet most young boys carrying MGs into Stalingrad were told where to deploy.

2) Ladders/Mantling system.... PLEASE make it so you just have to hit one key and your avatar automatically completes the full action. In combat people scramble over rubble and climb ladders as fast as they can... They don't awkwardly try and align themselves they just go go go

3) When you hover your mouse over a square on the objective map, place a little pop up above the mouse indicator showing the letter and number of the square. It just makes it easier, quicker, and less likely to tell Squad Leader to call artillery on your own boys

4) When you go into iron sights make the names above friendlies disappear (or at least make it an option).... I HATE when I deploy my MG in the sewers of Leningrad but I can't see the Germans because there's a friendly rifleman with a 20 letter name popping up and down in front of me...

5) This is my most radical idea and the one that will probably draw some flames... but I think there should be auto aim when hip shooting a pistol at a distance of like 10 feet or less... A child is capable of pointing a gun in the direction of a person. NO ONE except the most ridiculously inept solider will miss more than once or twice at close range...

6) History!! I know you guys at TWI have been to the sites where the game is based on... Give us a paragraph or two to read up on when the map is loading! RO taught me more about the great patriotic war than American public schools ever did. I really wanted a map in RO:Ost because I'd find myself asking "Are we in Lithuania or Belarus???" I know RO2 will only be in Stalingrad but I'd like as much geographical and historical context as I can get!

7) Nade spam... if you played Ro:Ost chances are you were frustrated by the sheer volume of grenades at one point or another.... Some custom maps (Zhitomir Revenge comes to mind) made it so that only assault classes got nades.... This REALLY helped in my opinion. I think this should be the standard Firefight you can give everyone nades because there's already no class restrictions, but territory and countdown should limit them. I'm fond of the way panzerfausts were scattered in wood boxes on Konigsplatz... I think grenades should be implemented similarly...

8) 3d voice commands.... in RO:Ost my favorite moments were when I was all alone in a building with my mosin nagant and from behind I'd hear a faint "Los los los!!" Not only did this teach me to learn a few words in German and Russian, but it really helped with the immersion.... However, this immersion was broke when I'd be trying to faintly listen to the Germans then my teammate from across the map would go "GRENADE GRENADE!" and the volume would be totally full  I'm in a room alone... why am I hearing voices in my head?

So I think voice commands should be 3d for BOTH enemy and allies. When someone on your team hits voice command for GRENADE or Need help at [x] then it should always be displayed in text, but you should only actually hear the German or Russian if you're in proximity.

9) Please make the soldier more in shape.... My brother is a soldier and can run for HOURS with FULL GEAR! And don't say "They were all drinking vodka and smoking!" because I drink vodka and smoke and I can still run for 30 minutes.... none of this 12 second sprint then 1 minute recovery from Ro:Ost :p... 30 second sprint minimum!!

10) AUTO RUN! PLEASE GOD PUT IT AN AUTO RUN BUTTON! It's really not fun holding W for 60 seconds while you run to defend the bunkers on Tula...

11) Option to turn off heart beat on suppression .... Personally I'd rather just have my screen get desaturated then have to listen to that pounding noise in my headphones....

12) tutorial videos.... It doesn't need to be a big deal, just have someone at TWI take an afternoon and record himself playing against bots then edit it with speech over top. Every n00b from here to China is going to run into the open and get mowed down for the first 10 hours they play the game.... A tutorial on safe cover/how to move in RO would really help (for those of you that have never played Ro:Ost, you have to stay low and move from cover to cover like a real soldier). It would be especially helpful for Anti Tank, Squad Leader, MG, combat engineers, etc. You could even make it like an old German news reel :p

Sorry for the long post... I just hope RO2 will be the best game of all time as I expect it will be!

I'll see you fascist dogs in the streets and next time I won't be so friendly :D

I only want to touch on a few...

Don't be silly :)

Soldiers in RO are jogging by default- the "run" you mention is a sprint, as in an all out balls out sprint.

Yeah I also like the easy map coordinate option considering that one of the basic skills for any soldier would be map reading, it seems only fair to make it as easy as possible to find them in game.

I thought this was already going to be much more natural in combination with the cover system in RO2. But still you're right it was/is needed.

This is kind of my suggestion in this section of the forum about the now almost useless pistol (although I managed a 4 kil streak with it - got behind them- when I played Lyeskrovy or what is the name).
Although an auto-aim would be rubbish in my eyes. As my brother mentioned a situation with a police officer and a criminal both emptying their pistol and none hit, while there only was a care in between (door-to-door, not nose-to-tail).
I would prefer the 'speedy iron sight' because holding a light gun and moving fast (little less than jogging or something) would still make you able to aim probably.
I hate the coddish crosshair (which would the sorta auto-aim be I assume) where you don't need to aim.

So I think voice commands should be 3d for BOTH enemy and allies. When someone on your team hits voice command for GRENADE or Need help at [x] then it should always be displayed in text, but you should only actually hear the German or Russian if you're in proximity.

Due to the reactions on the forum I speculate it wouldn't be as prominent as in the trailer. However it is a great way to let the player feel tension.
Hearing a fast heartbeat makes your own heartbeat increase, although I don't know which paper I read it in (as in article, not newspaper).
So I like the idea, but it was indeed too loud.

I agree with most of your ideas, nice post!

+1 Totally agree!

really hope this will be included in the game.

Agree with all of those except numbers 5 and 10, for which I don't really see an urgent need (#10, that is). Very good suggestions.

Also agree with Rez. :p

2) already implemented in Heroes of Stalingrad

5) no. If even an inept soldier will be able to hit a target at close range, then you should reasonably be able to hit a target at that range in-game.

This. One of the best ideas I've heard.

+1 top most of the ideas, excespt #5 and #7.

Nade spamming could be reduced by giving nades more accurate performance. Deadly, at point blank, but exponentially losing the deadliness at the rates grenades did.

PS, ><f4ct0r says hi.
