Duplicate CD Key =(

I just bought this game tonight from a PC Shop I work at and got the game for about 10$. Well it was used before, and I went on to steams site about Duplicate CD - Keys and they said they do not accept receipts from Used Software Shops. So what am I supposed to do? I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. I can show my proof of receipt, box, UPC, key, whatever you need. I just wanted to try this game out. Would I have seen the 5$ on steam deal, I would have gotten it then. So please, any help at all would be welcome. Thanks.

I believe there's nothing you can do I'm afraid- an activated 2nd hand copy of the game is useless unless the steam account it's attached to is also passed on with it.

Yeah, if a mod wants they can delete this thread. I just broke down and bought another copy of the game off of steam. It seemed like it was worth it, and it was.

There is a general warning here though - be very careful buying second-hand games! Obviously particularly true of Steam-based games, as the original key is likely to still be linked to the original owner's Steam account.
