Heh what I always find funny is that people not only seem to like witnessing vaporisation, they like to be vaporized.

I remember on Konigsplatz sitting in the corner in a hull down position in the IS-2, firing HE. I was aiming at the break in the wall, you know the hole the Germans can run through by Konigsplatz West to get inside to the Panzerfaust stash?

Anyway, I simply would aim at the wall behind this, knowing that if anyone entered my vision zone, the shell would detonate on the wall and the blast would take them out. Well it did, over, and over, and over again.

No matter how many times I vaporized people, they kept running up the side of the building, many times in groups of 2 or three! It was almost sad to watch. I took out like 20 guys from there, until I actually exhausted my HE supply. Finally, they sent a Tiger around to get me, and I had to let them, because I had no HE and no AP! Talk about fun times.

PS: I also remember some German AT guys in vain trying to sneak on me. I would notice movement, and could see like one solitary guy here or there crawling towards me, then I would rotate the turret on them, you could almost feel the guy's expression going "Oh ****....", then BOOM and where a Pak Soldat was, would be nothing :D

tanks can also vaporize soldiers
pretty cool :D

I was laying down, firing on the bridge with a guy in front of me. A tank round splattered him.

My favorite moment that involved a person being vaporized was on Bondarevo. I was a Russian and I drove a BA-64 on top of that hill to the right of the West Farm, coming from the Russian side. Well I noticed a guy who had his back turned to me, so I made it my mission to run him down, only for him to turn around at the last second and dodge my BA-64. I hopped out, fired a shot from my M91/30 and missed. He has an MP40, and I know I am dead. That is until a German tank from that hill past the wheat field with the windmil fires an AP round at my flipped over BA-64. Problem is, the German soldier trying to kill me was right in the path of it! He was turned into tomato juice right infront of my eyes. :D

all this talk also reminds of the time i was tank hunting with the panzerfaust, and a ememy came at me. All i could do was take a hip shot with the panzerfaust. Took off a leg below the knee and he fliped forward. Awsome.

Hehe, i remember the first time i saw this, gather round ye childe and i shall relate to you a true story!

Twas on Rawkowice (SP? the airfield map), and me and my fellow comrades had captured the hangar, armed with my PTRD i decided to walk up the stair inside the hanger to the doorway overlooking the german control tower, hoping to get a glance at where thouse Panzers where headed off to, and behold! a manned Panzer was parked by the control tower facing my way, i go prone at the door and take my shot, and the Panzer spots me and shoots back! but his AP shell is stopped by the railing on the staircase on the outside of the hangar.
I reload and think to myself "next shot he'll get me for sure! i'd better nail him this time!", i crawl out again, aim, fire, and crawl back to reload, dissapointed that my shot did not kill him, i summon my courage and get out for another shot, *BAM!*, another AP shell is stopped by the railing on the staircase just infront of me! so i figure "hmm, this guy must be a n00b or he'd be using HE against me, and it seems like im safe behind this stair, i think i'll just lie here and shell the bastard then!", and that i did, me and the Panzer exchanged fire for a while, with neither of us beeing able to hurt the other.

Then a sniper from my team joins me on the narrow catwalk, with me allready covering the doorway, he decides to peek through one of the windows next to the doorway, *BAM!*, an AP shell from the Panzer strikes him dead on, and i watch, jaw dropping, as he is turned into mist before my eyes!

Well, i wasted no time getting out of there and setting up shop elsewhere, so i would not be next :D

I remember my first time dieing from a art kill. I was running to another building when all of a sudden, art starts coming down on me. I knew I would die, and I did. But I didn't think when I looked at what was left of my body that I would lose my legs, my arms, and my head!

The first time I saw someone get vaporized into a red mist it did take me back for a moment. Only because I had never seen anything like that happen in any of the games I had played before. After a while though, I got use to it. Really net effect.

yeah i've been blown to bits...and thats cool...but what i really like is when i get hit by rifle fire and I quickly swith to third person view, and I see my character twitching . And the rag-doll physics in this deaths MORE than make up for any stilted character animations. Even those are totally bearable. This game is just SO much fun.

The next implimentation of RO will be the "I Just Saw My Buddy Vaporized And Now I Am Shell Shocked" Add-on. Basically, anytime someone is blown up near you, your screen is sprayed with blood and your guy begins to uncontrollably weep while trembling.

Some other variants will include crapping yourself, being forced to run away screaming and picking up the pieces while spamming, "MEDIC!"

My favorite moments involve being tucked away in a barn somewhere with a PTRD, and infantry trying to rush across flat land to get to me. Oh, sweet sweet joy. Sweet sweet rapture!

It's even more enjoyable when the dolts are in groups, then hit the deck when the first guy screams and falls over.

Yeah. Because giving yourself a slower-moving and larger profile is a GREAT idea.

If you play German on Ogledow, check the bloody barns! At least *try* to put up a fight!

dude, its the natural and smart reaction to hit the deck when someone next to you just got nailed, especialy if you dont know where the fires coming from.

youed do it in real life, as would 99% of the population

*psst*

I was being a *tiny bit* sarcastic ;)

They owe it to themselves to at least check the windows before sprinting across completely open terrain. Just trying to make those new to the game play a little smarter is all :D

I don't think it has to be sarcastic.

Green soldiers will usually freeze when shot at in the open...vets realize they need to get to cover! Hence, if you are out in the open, most guys with combat experience will move forward and get the helll out of the KZ, not hit the dirt.

Sure casualties are taken, but you take far fewer casualties overall crossing that deadly space then you do sitting there and taking it.

Yeah...hehe. On Konigsplatz I was driving the IS2 when a group of three Germans took up position behind a knocked out vehicle. Unfortunately for them I had already loaded up an HE round. I targeted the ground next to them and fired...one dissolved into a red mist, the others had limbs blown off and things tossed into the air.
