Seems like this idea is getting some good feedback, I wonder what TW thinks

Maybe I should start up a poll and get a vote going

With such awesome animations already made, and this kind of feedback, I predict tat you'll be getting a landslide of support!

Thinking about it, wouldn't it be awesome if, once the whole thing was made and tested, if TWI would implement it? But that's just me wishing:D

Personally I love how cool it looks. It looks freaking awesome. Only thing that is bugging me is how well it would work as a game mechanic. I mean the player essentially has to momentarily give up their weapon in order to use this attack, which begs teh question, how hard would it need to hit in order to be a viable option?

I mean it would naturally hit harder than an ordinary swing since your throwing it with full force at your target, but would it be equivelant to say a L.A.R. headshot? A full double HS blast? A L.A.W. rocket? Xbow bolt?

It would need to be something pretty damned big to warrant its use, but also small enough to not be overpowered. Quite hard to balance IMO

Assuming it could be balanced well though, I'm all for it :)

Yes, yes, yes to dualwieldable machetes and throwable machetes and axes. Not throwable knife though, since its a spawn weapon and "last resort". Example: If you are out of 9mm, and carry Fire Axe and Machete(s), then throw those, then the Knife is the ONLY weapon you have left and thus should stay in your inventory, as i said, as a last resort.
OR (this could take a lot longer time but...) making hand on hand combat available...if your out of ammo, dont have a gun, or melee weapon, you are left with your fists. attacks: regular-punch or knee to the gut ;) alt-grab by the throat, throw over your head and body slam XD....clot only of course...i'd like to see you body slam a FP or Patty....
and a random weapon idea(possibly already suggested) but dual hammers. having the same effect/animation of the dual machetes almost.
attacks:
regular: 1.just regular bash straight down(left arm then right)
2. windmill with your arms XD
3.lobbing the hammer at zeds
alt: hammers away from body(you form a "T") and straight smash a zeds head in with the 2 faces of the hammer.... maybe? just ideas
i do really hope this melee ideas get adapted into killing floor. :D

The damage done would be calculated in this simple formula:

((20 * [Damage of the Patriarch's Rocket, dependant on difficulty, ranging from 75-260]) / [how many pieces of cake you've had in the past week] ) + 55

NOTE: Batteries not included

The animation is great, and it sounds like it would be fun- however there would be balancing issues with dual wielding. If your damage is doubled by using two your damage would be comparable to someone using a chainsaw or a katana right? But it would cost much less, and you would be able to use it as a ranged weapon if needed...idk could be a problem.

As for throwing the machete and axe, I think the high damage could be balanced out by making the weapon non-retrievable after a hit. They aren't too expensive to be used as a disposable weapon (they cost less than getting a pipe bomb), but the downside would be that they take up quite a few blocks for something you are going to use once.

LOL!
That's from 'Commando', right?
In that movie, he can detect stalkers from 20 meters away:D

And I feel this is a necessary compliment:

YouTube - Jungle all the way - Swede Mason

But, back on topic, what if it was a last-ditch high-damage attack. I mean, since it would limited to 2 throws, it could afford to be a little more than just the machete damage. Something that could finish of a damaged FP, so maybe each could be equal to an axe alt fire? Or would that be overpowered? Because I do see one hole in it......weapon stockpiling.

Im wondering different kind of aimings.

Example 1. As suggested in Thread.

Example 2. When you press "ironsight", aiming animation begins, you have time to look around and aim while it (also move). When left hand is center of screen, throw happens automaticly. No cancel. This throw thing (animation) should happend pretty fast, in 2 second, or 2,5 second? So this will need fast aiming skills(?), and choosing target beforehand.

So. Pressing ironsight means, that you are gonna throw it. No cancel.

If you throw dual wielded. After 1. throw, machete you have, is automaticly in melee. When last Machete is thrown, you take your next melee weapon.

Or

Example 3. When ironsight is pressed, aiming animation begins, you have time to aim. When left hand is center of screen it stays, and when you release "ironsight" button, throw happens. To cancel, stop pressing "ironsight" before left hand reach center.

This also allows that you can wait. Just hold ironsight what ever time you want, also able to move, and look around and choose target. And then throw when released.

If u cancel, its gonna go melee automaticly. (must be done before left "aim hand" reaches center)

Example 4.?

---------------------

Also would be good, that you can run, while throwing. (as said)

don't over think it or over complicate it, just make it work in the same way you would with the law. ironsight to fire, causes the animations and allows cancel.

I think that a ballistic knife would be a better weapon. If any of these ideas does get implemented, there's going to be all these new possibilities with new perks and all.

well, Im awfully sorry, but I disagree. Anyways, these weapons are already under developement. Unless you'd like to make a ballistics knife, I'd suggest you knob off you tosspot;)

Example 4. You press iron sight, you aim. Then you have to press left click or primary fire to throw. This is more leniant than yours, so therefore more newb-friendly.

Also i vote for a Chakram as a throwing weapon. It's cool and unheard-of AFAIK.

Wow, this is some cool stuff Yomommassis! All very solid animations too.

The one thing I thought looked a little off was hitting the fp with an axe. Instead of the fp stopping in it's tracks, I would like to see him show the force of the impact, maybe even take a half step back or stumble a little.
