-Couldn't find any thread with regards to this-

How effective would dual dual's (Dual 9mm's and dual HC) be? I'm pretty new to this game, but from reading this forum, it seems that both pistols have a decent ammo size. Only problem is that aiming with duals is pretty hard, which is why most players prefer to use single HC or just a 9mm.

Weight-wise, I'm not sure if having DD's would affect a perk's ability to carry out his job, although it could be good for taking out trash (other than the bull/ak).

Just a random thought.

Depends on what you're trying to do. If you're trying to level up your Sharpshooter, steer clear of double pistols.

They might be feasible for a Medic, if he has to spam his way through things to heal wounded teammates, but in that case, dual handcannons and MP7 leave room for a more effective weapon instead of dual 9mm.

On a semi related note, I tried triple duals: dual 9mm, dual handcannons, and the IJC's dual Mk23s. It was a blast.

Dual 9mms- Utterly, sinfully, terribly, totally worthless. Don't even bother with them. The 9mm is a precision weapon and can take out everything below a Husk with one or two headshots. The bodyshot damage isn't justifiable enough to consider the sacrificed accuracy for dual weaponry. Also, the 0 to 4 weight increase is kinda bad.

Dual Handcannons- Actually somewhat worth it as a backup weapon for those "OH SH-" moments. The bodyshot damage is acceptable to use it for that kind of thing at least, and it certainly works out when bodyblocking Scrakes and Fleshpounds as a Field Medic. Those and the fact that the weapon doesn't change in weight makes this a perfectly viable if not accurate weapon.

I rock dual 9mm's and a bullpup when I am screwing around on suicidal, and actually do pretty well with it.

I literally cannot think of a use for dual 9mms in a game where your intent is to win - other than gimping yourself, be it purposely or not. Dual handcannons, yes, but that's not necessarily saying you should always use dual cannons.

Even if you're not a very good aim, duals make it worse, and your ammo count isn't changed at all. Yes, 4 blocks of weight can throw off a lot of loadouts - and they take much longer to reload. The good thing is, dual handcannons don't weigh any more than a single one does. Still - just personal preference - I really only use a single 'cannon even as a medic.

I was messing around on west london yesterday HoE, and ended up playing with this loadout.

MP7
Handcannon
Dual 9mm
Katana

And while I was blowing away clots with the Dual 9mm I noticed I frequently missed head shots, but only when the gun in my left hand fired.
So I tried adjusting my aim to the right a little bit on every second shot and viola! Downing the little buggers two shots a kill.

So I guess the Dual 9mm wasn't as bad as I thought. But, still not really a preferred weapon. I suppose if you were a better shot than me you could make it work. Give it a try.

EDIT: Since I've been up for half a week, I figured I might as well provide visual aid as to better explain what I mean. I mean, my typing may very well be incomprehensible right now and I don't even know it.

Since the reload bonus was nerfed for sharpie, dual cannons is not nearly as useful as it was.

Effective? Hardly.
Fun? Definitely.

So if you are playing seriously, steer clear of them. But if you are messing around to have fun, rock those dualies and spam like you never spammed before.

First of all, I disagree with what you're saying not because I disagree with what you're saying, but because I have a problem with your lifestyle choices and the type of person you've made yourself out to be. As for disagreeing with you, I agree with what you've said about the dualies, although I will disagree about where you said that they're fun because in my opinion, they are not.

Dualies are only good for spawnselling, honestly. lol

I'm a fairly new player to KF, owned the game for ages (my friend bought it for me to play with him, I never did) but I started playing seriously about 3 weeks ago.

I've been dicking around with the dual Handcannons the past few days, and I'm starting to get the hang of them. I personally think they are worth using, they just take a bit of getting used to.

Advantages:
16 bullets instead of 8, you can fire for longer before reloading which is useful for clearing large amounts of mob around you, or for if you need to do some serious damage to a raging Scrake or Fleshpound.
Same weight as a single Handcannon.
Looks sexy. ;)

Disadvantages:
Loss of accuracy.
Longer reload time.
Goes through ammo faster.

Now, the loss of accuracy is a bit annoying. (Then again I never really liked the Handcannon's iron sights to begin with) However, since using them, my accuracy has been increasing, to the point where I'm getting a lot more headshots than when I first started using them. Granted some of those are random, but with time I think I'll be able to headshot with them consistently. The thing I've really noticed about them is that they seem to fire slightly higher than where you're aiming at, so aim down a bit to compensate. Doing that, I am now fairly accurate with my dual Handcannons.

TL;DR
Dual Handcannons are harder to aim with, but with practice you get used to them.

I love dual HCs as a serker. Great for taking down crawler swarms. Ammo wastes quick, but serkers get so much dosh it doesnt even matter.

Dual handcannons are absolutely great for those OMFG SHOOT EVERYTHING panic moments. Dual 9mms suck FP penis. Single 9mms are great for helping conserve ammo and finish off trashy little zeds and also pop heads. The single handcannon makes a great secondary for e.g. Demomen, because they have great aim, great power, and great ammo, as well as their heavier gun!

Only really useful on suicidal and below, and because of the loadouts, probably only useful on hard and below due to the need for an axe on suicidal and above. On HoE, you'd want a LAR for killing crawlers, husks, and sirens because the greatest advantage for dual HCs on suicidal and below is single shotting crawlers, which is no longer possible.

So, newbie question... but what are Mk23s? I've seen them mentioned a few times but have no idea what they are.
