I'm no gun expert, but don't the Russians have some MG that can do a single shot fire? I main MG now post patch (fell in love with it a few days after launch) and usually do really well regardless of which gun I use. I had lvl 11 dp-28 and lvl 15 mg-34 when I hit veteran MG. Since then I've basically used MG-34 exclusively on either team and its now lvl 46.

The main reason is that it has a single round fire which you really need for taking out stationary targets behind cover. With bad luck you can do 3-4 sprays on someones head with the DP-28 and not kill them so the kill you or hide in cover. MG-34 it takes one bullet to kill them. The utility is just so much higher ignoring the 75 round drum mag and 250 round ammo belt upgrades.

In service 1944-1960s (Soviet Union)

I vote for the russian tank mg, i hate being on russian and hearing a bunch of mg34s firing around me, only becuase i hate assuming in this game, that some1 has me covered or that and enemy weapon is in a friendlies hands

Even if the DPM was available in Stalingrad, in game terms, there would be no difference between the DPM and the DP-28. The main improvements were adding a pistol grip, changing the recoil spring, and a more sturdy bipod. None of which would change its performance in game.

it would. all of these 3 items let to be better accuracy and reduced recoil during firing

Certainly never in Stalingrad. It wasn't even designed until 1943, prototypes did not enter service until 1944.

While we're on the whole prototype subject, I don't think they should be there. I would personally make the MKb 42 unavailable on any Stalingrad maps. Leave it in the game for limited use on other maps which may be made in the future outside of Stalingrad. I'd rather see the FG 42 in game than the MKb 42. At least there were actually Fallschirmj

I think in game terms the effects would be very minor. Not enough to justify adding a "new" weapon in my opinion.

And you justify the terrible imbalance between german and russian weapons? All the german weapons who where better in WW2 are in RO2? but none of the russian weapons wich where better?

I justify realism and historical accuracy. I don't care which side it favors, so long as it behaves as it did in real life. If a German weapon was better, than it should be better in game. It should not be artificially "nerfed", to balance the Russian side. The opposite applies as well of course. It just doesn't happen as often, because the German weapons were often better. The downside of the German weapons were the resources and technology required to create them, and the higher maintenance requirements, all factors outside the scope of the game. In the real world, the Russian weapons were cheaper, and easier to produce. They also required less maintenance do to the loose design tolerances. But in the game world, these factors are irrelevant. When only looking at performance of perfectly functioning weapons, the Germans are the clear winners in most cases.

That's a crew-fed MMG (so the MG34 with a belt, to be fair) that is impossible to carry around. Especially considering I can't choose my unlocks, I do -not- want to get stuck dragging that monster all over the battlefield at a snails pace. I'd never keep up with the front line.

Lol pictures Josef lugging around a 12.7 mm mg

Ya it would be like a fully auto AT gun just saying realistically the Russian is historically limited when it comes to mg unlocks.

For the record I like the sights on the DP-28 better than the MG-34

What about a Bren? Maybe have that as an unlock as well. :D

Why not? :p

Certainly just as plausible as some other weapon in game. Does anyone know if the DLC universal carrier will have the bren/boys as shipped or has been refitted with DP/PTRD?
