I feel that instead of having to use the German Mg-34, the Russians need a DT taken from a knocked out tank to use as an upgrade. It has a 60 round pan, and a higher rate of fire, plus a bipod kit that was stored in the tank just so it could be removed for use outside of the tank in an emergency. It's a easy and logicall upgrade for the Russian MG :IS2:

Agreed. A good thing to add at a later date!

I'd still hit MG34. I got used to it too much.

p.s. You can also give axis (why cant I call them nazis >_<. I got used TO IT TOO) MG42 but I doubt anyone will use it (no semi-atuo, higher RoF (useless in RO2)).

Russian LMG gunner needs some more love and salvaged DP sounds most reasonable.

I would rather let them get a Maxim on an armored wheel mount. Very slow to pull into a position, maybe slow to "mount" when in position, unable to enter buildings, but exceedingly stable weapon when in position with long belts.

Such a gun would be much more realistic in terms of numbers and actual usage. It would also give a lot in terms variety and gameplay mechanics. It wouldn't be very usable in attack, but would rule in defence. Difficult to get in good position, but even more difficult to remove from good defensive position often requiring artillery or flanking move with grenades.

It would be a good "hero" weapon, true game changer with high stakes for both battling teams.

I vote for the bro-torcycle, as long as the driver has satchels that he can just do a drive by on enemy tanks while doing laps around the map sowing fear and death into the enemies' hearts.

How about the Maxim-Tokarev LMG?
maxim-tokarev.jpg

It was outdated by the time of WW2, but still saw use during the war. But with a rate of fire of 600 rpm, and a 100 round belt, it could be seen as an upgrade to the DP-28.

The SG-43 Goryunov would be nice, but way too heavy (41kg with mount) for use in the LMG role.

I really like the idea of salvaged DTs. Not so sure about the Maxim, and a definite no on the wheely MG, but the salvaged DP makes perfect sense and is a nice upgrade for an experienced Ruskie MG'er.

Because the game is about the Wehrmacht fighting the Red Army in Stalingrad, not NSDAP vs. Communist Party of Soviet Russia

Maxim tokarovs where not used. Only by the spanish

Thousands and thousands and thousands of DT's got salvaged from knocked out soviet AFV during operation barbarossa. Often by there crews. Not only did the DT had a higher ROF and a 60 round pan magazine, it also had a heavier barrel and had less recoill and more accuracy

Plus...the DT model is actually already ingame. inside the T34. This saves time

That's a crew-fed MMG (so the MG34 with a belt, to be fair) that is impossible to carry around. Especially considering I can't choose my unlocks, I do -not- want to get stuck dragging that monster all over the battlefield at a snails pace. I'd never keep up with the front line.

Imagine the possibility to mount that thing by the city hall in Spartanovka and clearing the church by firing through the walls... :) You do not have to keep up with anyone. :)

Yeah, but how am I supposed to squeeze into small, unexpected positions and angles with that monster?

Also, stairs. And hills. And trenches. And craters. And low walls.

Well one thing I would like to see is the option to pick up the currently static "HMGs" and move them around to different locations.

Basically one or two can spawn at your first spawn, and you can then pick them up/cart them around on the map to different locations, instead of being in random static locations.

Simple, they could add DPM which is improved version of DP
Even if the DPM was available in Stalingrad, in game terms, there would be no difference between the DPM and the DP-28. The main improvements were adding a pistol grip, changing the recoil spring, and a more sturdy bipod. None of which would change its performance in game.
