After a recent experience I decided to make this thread. I haven't seen one like this, so if this is a sort of duplicate then I'll post this info in the original.

Drivers can make or break a game's performance, so here you can list your GPU type and drivers that either work well or work terribly in Red Orchestra 2 only. I'll start.

GPU Type: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480
Good Drivers: 270.61 WHQL
Bad Drivers: 285.38 BETA

The 285.38 BETA drivers are supposed to improve BF3 performance by up to 38%. However they also cut my RO2 performance by over 50%, so I reverted back to the 270.61 WHQL and now everything is great. With my GTX 480, I've found that all newer drivers reduce performance slightly as they are designed with the 500 series in mind.

Keep in mind the proper installation process for new drivers.

- Download latest drivers
- Download latest version of Driver Sweeper or something similar
- Uninstall current video card drivers from Device Manager
- Reboot into safe mode
- Run Driver Sweeper and clean the NVIDIA or AMD Display drivers, and NVIDIA PhysX drivers for NVIDIA cards
- Delete leftover driver folder (e.g., C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver)
- Reboot
- Disable anti-virus and install new drivers (for NVIDIA, select Custom Installation, choose what you want, and choose clean install option)
- Reboot

GPU Type: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
Good Drivers: The latest ones work for me - 280.26.
I don't do beta drivers, there's a reason they're beta.

Throughout the years I've encountered beta drivers that were perfect for me. The WHQL drivers that followed 270.61 are inferior for my old 400 series card though.

GTX 470
Nvidia BETA driver 280.16

All beta driver means is that Microsoft has not put their label on it yet. Seeing as how it is an NVIDIA product I'll use their product with the most performance.
Beta in this case does not mean 'tester'.

Graphics card: Geforce GTX460 1GB
Good Driver Version: 280.26,think it is a WHQL one

i did some settings in the "manage 3D settings" tab, didnt really affect the performance of the game though.

I just use the latest drivers, because I am lazy to find other ones.

Don't be too lazy to install them properly! Updated OP with this info. Many years ago I just installed new drivers without deleting the old ones, and when I finally did it correctly, I got a nice performance boost which seems to be critical for most people with Red Orchestra 2.

You should never have to remove old drivers before installing new ones on modern hardware. These days the installers will delete or overwrite any existing files and more to the point the most popular driver sweeper was discontinued due to causing issues with modern display drivers.

GPU Type: AMD Radeon HD5770
Good Drivers: 11.10 Preview
Bad Drivers: 11.8

11.10 is intended for BF3 but improved performance massively in RO2 for my system

(AMD Athlon II X3@3.5Ghz, GSkill Ripjaws 4GB)

Driver sweeper can create more problems than it solves.:( just use the perform clean installation option

Only time you acutally need to use that program is if you are switching from ati to nvidia card:p

Just dont use the battlefield 3 drivers, thats all you need to know I guess:confused:

the previous 285.28(?) drivers have been working fine for me since first day they were released:eek:
