Surprised this does not have its own thread already.

Bioware's new hardcore RPG out on 5th November. Named the spiritual successor to the Baldurs Gate series. Its worth noting they have created their own rule set to use with this game rather than D&D used in previous titles. You also take control of 4 characters simultaneously just like in the old games.

Personally i think it looks great. Visuals are not cutting edge but it looks like they have favoured substance over style.

Some reviews.

20 minute gameplay footage.

Yeah i have been keeping my eye on this one, looks great and i think i'll preorder it.
I'm not the biggest fan of groups in RPG's though, but it looks to be a very indepth one so i can look past that :)

The trailer smells of Lord of the Rings, but the visuals remind me more of The Witcher - even though I'm sure it won't have anything in common with it.

Does look good, will wait on most of my Baldurs Gate/Icewind Dale/Planescape Torment loving friends before deciding whether or not to purchase...will have to see how Bioware fare without Black Isle.

"did you have to unlock that mustache?"

Looks great. I like these type of games... and hearing them say it's on the difficult side makes it all the more attractive. I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure.

This is not next-gen RPG game .[...] We have playability in old, very classic style. Gathering the party, prepering for hours for major battles, plodding at a development tree and pondering investing in which areas will eventually pay off - that is the very core of the game.

One reviewer gave the game a 8.5, while complaining that the game was too hard-core

Its the sort of game i have been waiting for a long time from a developer with a big budget.

Already pre ordered, unless it shows up on steam then I'll cancel that and change my pre order :)

Actually, just this afternoon, we finished up the deal, so I can now confirm that Dragon Age: origins WILL indeed come to Steam.

Now, before you all go running over to Steam to pre-order, the page is not up yet. Both us and the fine folks at Valve are working to make something for you ASAP, but I think it won't be ready till next week. So just us a little time and we'll let you know as soon as it is ready.

Stay Tuned.

Ooo, I just noticed this is going to be released by EA. Whereas I think this game looks great, the publisher creates a heavy conflict for me. I've vowed to never send another penny their way..

EA is still going to make money regardless. I think it's stupid to miss out on a possibly great game just because EA is the publisher.

Who says I'm going to miss out on it? It's a single player game. I'll get it used and cheap (or free - not stolen) down the line.

I have patience and strong convictions. When I set myself to something, I stick to it. To this day I've never so much as stepped foot on a Walmart parking lot, much less been inside one and spent money. I'm one of those people.

Haha, well, I'm with you on Walmart. I simply got the impression though that you'd never play the game at all, considering you said you'd never send a penny their way, and I don't know much about used PC games (unless you were referring to the console). And we can't talk openly about piracy here :p
