The main character's surname is Hawke

Hawke survived "the Blight"

Hawke is known as "the Champion of Kirkwall"

Hawke is a "refugee"

DA2's story will span 10 years

DA2 will be released in March 2011 for PC, XBox 360, and PS3

Morrigan is NOT Hawke's mother; Hawke is NOT the "god baby"

Hawke can be male or female

Hawke is human

DA2 is a single-player game

"More than half" of the Dragon Age left by the time Awakening begins

There will be more DLC and patches for DAO before DA2 is released

There is no "morality meter" in the style of Mass Effect's Paragon/Renegade meter

The game does NOT take place "10 years after Origins." It SPANS a 10-year period. When it starts hasn't been revealed.
There will be companions/followers

Hawke will be voiced

Hawke lived in Lothering during the events of DA:O, fled north to Kirkwall

Game will use imported save from Dragon Age: Origins

Flemeth will appear

Intra-party conflict may be more significant

Mass Effect-style dialogue wheel with paraphrased lines and symbols denoting tone

I don't know what those kids whine about concerning the grafics of DA:O.
They were absolutely superb!
Well no, they were not.

If you're talking about the art style etc. then I'd have to agree, but saying DA:Os graphics were superb is not valid. It came out after Mass Effect 2, yet looks very outdated compared to it. I never had any problems with the graphics while playing and felt they were quite fitting, yet they were no way any better than 'good' - so as consequence I and from what I've read pretty much anywhere else, most other players would expect improved graphics. Judging by those screenshots I don't see any improvement, it actually looks pretty bland. Especcially if you look at how this are the first screenshots, normally you'd only show awesome stuff.

Nevertheless Dragon Age 2 will surely be epic, as pretty much anything produced by BioWare. Just keep the facts right though.

LOL Mike Laidlaw from BioWare said(in a joystiq interview) there won't be an aerial view mode in DA2(like there was in DA, allowing for better tactics). While I personally couldn't care less about because I was always playing in normal 3rd person and didn't switch once, the reason he gives for that decision is

Dragon Ages gameplay already was pretty much brilliant so it doesn't need as much work.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say "brilliant."

Enchanting? A joke.

Class/ability system? Fun, but extremely limited.

Overall combat? Set magic to pwn and relax.

Mechanically, Bioware games are RPG-lite. Sure it's got all the dialog and characterization, but the mechanics that back up game play are pretty transparent. I got half way through DA when the mechanics panned out in their entirety...and since I wasn't about to sink another 10 hours into the game just to sleep with someone, I uninstalled.

It's a good game, but brilliant gameplay? Nah. It's NWN, more polished, with a better written story and character interactions.

Compare it to any rogue-like RPG. Compare it to any MMORPG worth it's salt. WoW looks like a hardcore RPG compared to Bioware offerings. Compare it to NWN2, which was the crappier game, but mechanically it had a lot more going for it. Compare it to Planescape Torment, which while lacking clickable abilities, delivers more interactions between the skill system and the game world.

Or even compare it to many RTS/RPG hybrids. Weapon design seems to be where Bioware puts it's love; it's never into skills or abilities. I'm thinking specifically of ME's skill trees. Then reinvision them as DA's skill bars (or whatever you want to call those.)

Some RPGs work up their mechanics to the point where getting them and manipulating them is game play unto itself. I feel like with Bioware RPGs, they give just enough mechanics to keep you playing, then dump all the rest of the effort into characterization.

PCGames.de already played it @GC2010 and from their impression(they played the pc version, with a 360 pad) the game looks better and dialogue is awesome, but the game is moving towards consoles with less RPG and more action and controls feeling more like they were adapted to a controller.

:/

Well damn, after reading a review of the Witcher 2 presentation @gamescom + seeing the screenshots, this is gonna be an epic fight between Dragon Age 2 + The Witcher 2. It's safe to say that Witcher 2 is going to win in the graphics department tho.

Release day DLC announced...so exciting.

Bioware announced today that a 3-mission DLC pack for Dragon Age II will be available on March 11th, the day the game releases in Europe. The DLC is called "The Exiled Prince" and it introduces the noble archer Sebastian Vael, with players joining him in the middle of his quest to avenge the brutal murder of his family.

Sworn to the priesthood as a boy, Sebastian is forced to re-enter the viper's nest of princely politics when his family is brutally murdered, leaving him as the sole surviving heir. Banding together with Sebastian and his unshakable loyalty and excellent aim, players will choose to either avenge Sebastian's murdered family to reclaim his title or direct his holy vengeance on their enemies in Kirkwall. In addition to this action-packed storyline, players will also be able to enlist Sebastian as a follower throughout a majority of Dragon Age II.

Yep I saw the trailer and that's pretty much why I pre-ordered the signature edition(same price as normal). Of course it's questionable to offer release-day DLC that of course should've been included from the beginning, but I'm going to buy the game anyways so I might just as well get the DLC for free.

I'm greatly impressed. :IS2:

Edit: I love the protagonist already, she looks like she can pee on everything and everyone.

I played the demo yesterday and didn't even bother finishing it ... it looked like trash to me.

The IU is awful, (according to the demo) there appear to be even less spells and abilities than before, the graphics looked worse to me and ran terribly on my system (there is NO excuse for that ...), and the game played and felt like a cartoon to me.

This is Dragon Age Lite to me. I mean the entire game's design is flawed compared to the original's in my opinion -- the best part about the first game was the fact that you could make a character that started from a whole crapload of different backgrounds. That's what added to the replayability. Now they have taken that away.

That on top of all the things that I hated about the demo makes this a for sure NOT BUY for me.
