I prefer one gun instead of two, because I feel it is easier to aim with one, rather than two.
But how do I aim with two guns? It is the middle of the screen, I should aim for, or it is the edge of the barrel of the guns, I should aim for?

(Sorry for bad English - I hope you understand me anyway)

It's the middle of the screen. Quite a few people like me tend to know where the middle is so I advise you to learn which will then improve you're speed and aim with majority of the weapons use.

People recommend dual handcannons for certain situations, but imo using duals is horribly ineffective unless you aren't good at taking advantage of the natural single accuracy. I've only tried using dual pistols for a total of five hours or something like that over the course of two and a half years, but it feels like you have to move your aim side-to-side to compensate for the way your character holds the guns and alternates firing with them.

I dunno if its just a graphical thing, but when using dualies I seem to notice that bullets from the left gun go slightly right of the target and bullets from the right gun go slightly to the left.

Could be soley a graphical effect, or even and optical illusion, but thats what it looks like to me ;)

I use dual handcannons as medic for when the FP/Scrake decides walking isn't fast enough, and that my friends are better targets than i am. :)

Yeah, this is sorta what I was talking about. Has anyone else tried compensating for it and noticed a difference like I did?

So for one perk, in one situation. I find it easier just to recommend not using duals in the first place, but if you like them, go ahead. As a medic I rarely find myself needing to block, and melee catches their attention pretty well along with other weapons like SMGs or the LAR.

Alone in Penn's woods
A friend of my nephew bought the game awhile back, and plays on the house LAN. He has an uncanny, (positively scarey), "feel" for the center of the screen. This is the only person I've seen that consistently buys a second 9mm. As a Sharpster, he prefers dual 9s, dual HCs and the LAR. At times, I've left my seat during games and gone and stood behind him as he played. I've watched him consistently decap Sirens while they're hardly more than a dot on the screen with the double 9s without even raising the pistols to eye level. And I think, "How the hell does he do that?" It's a little creepy.

On certain maps, he'll practically single-handedly run the table with just the dual handguns on the first four waves, leaving everyone else with little to do. It isn't a case of art imitating life, as I've taken him to the range a few times, and quickly learned he can barely hit the ground with his hat when it comes to real firearms. Sadly, once the KF heavyweights start showing up, he gets rattled and isn't exactly the textbook example of the ideal Sharpshooter. We're working on that...

On the subject of aiming two handguns; we women have the reputation as being (possibly) spatially dysfunctional. While I don't feel impaired myself, I've a few female friends that seem a bit challenged in this regard. "Rhenna, do you think I can park my car in that space?" "Joanne", I answer, "I think you could park a freakin' school bus in that spot." That point now being established, the only advice I can offer regarding aiming dual pistols would be for elevation.

I find that for the 9mms, use the bottom edge of the white dot on the front sight as your point of impact, elevation-wise. For the HCs, use the top edge of the front-sight white dots. (This is, of course, with the pistols raised to eye-level.) By this I mean, imagine a line drawn horizontally between these two points on each pistol. That is, at least with my eyes, where the round will go height-wise. You still need to estimate your windage, (left-right), and discipline yourself to re-aim between shots, most especially with the HCs. Yes, as a reference, all this may seem a bit too fussy. It does work for me.

I remember that someone (perhaps our very articulate and thorough Rhenna) posted a thread stating that the right handgun hits the center of the screen, but the left one always fires off just slightly to the side. Left or right, sadly I remember not but if you know where the center of your screen is, that "mental crosshair" then with a little practice in sandbox mode you should be able to consistently perform akimbo headshots.

As a side-note, the huge reload time buffs for Sharpshooter only apply to single handguns, not duals, so on-perk there's really no reason to buy duals unless you're just ****ing around

Auto-double-guns

Auto-double-guns

This thread and other like it inspired me to mess around with the various dual pistols. I started out experimenting with aiming them, but then I started testing my rate of fire through clicking really fast.

At some point the thought occured to me that, since I have a programmable mouse, that would be the most effective way to test the rate of fire. (Of course, there is a weapon specs spreadsheet, but applying the maximum rate seemed more fun.) I bound a button to fire every 50ms.

I thought dual 9mm's were ineffective before, but spamming it up with some auto-turbo is like spitting on the zeds. The handcannons are a bit better, but it only seemed worth it against a FPs and scrakes. Ultimately, the fact that I wasn't aiming each individual shot was intolerable to me. Even with the duals, I want to plant every bullet, even without the benefit of usable sights.

You can get a feel for the centre of the screen after playing for many hours.

My friend had a funny trick for aiming without crosshairs or sights (on a different game) - he'd just aim a gun, put a sticker on his screen to mark it, and then use that as a crosshair. The other alternative is to use dental floss or thread stretched across the screen and taped down at the sides.

Of course, it's much more satisfying to hit the mark naturally without using any aids.

As there are no crosshairs, you soon get used to aiming on instinct. With dual handguns it's admittedly harder to aim on instinct than other guns, but you'll get used to it. Lots of practice!

Wrong. At least, as of last patch all handguns get a massive reload buff for sharpshooters.

The left gun fires slightly off centre, learn to compensate for that and the handcannons become godly. (Except that stupid reload bug) And I don't know if this is me. But I'm one of those people that knows where the centre of my screen is, so without aiming I can nearly always score headshots on the fly. In fact that is the only way I can use the M14EBR. Laser off, no iron site and fire from hip.

On a side note, how do people move their weapons when aiming.

I tend to swing in a U shape, bringing my gun upto the target, rather that trying to move in a straight line.

quick tip. using duals or not.

it really depends on what you are going for. if you want another weapon to slowly aim and get headshots and be viable from long range use single.

if you need a "OH CRAP" weapon to spam and get out of trouble use duals.

they are equally good now that they gave duals bonuses for sharp. it depends on if you want double clip + double reload or half the clip half the reload + ironsights.
