I've got it..... Change the skin color from red to blue and only give it to "print" magazine buyers that can provide proof of purchase. Problem solved and no more disgruntled masses.
Because people that actually paid for the magazine are the only "Core" fans out there that have the right to be upset. You know, because they were the only ones following TWI and KF2 right?

Exacly, that would be good also, but knowing how they can't even say "sorry", then I figure its gona be a much bigger problem that we think. This so sad to see from a GAME COMPANY to not even post a simple comment...

Hello all interested parties in this thread.

I've been in an out of the office for the past few weeks due to family so while I have been tracking this issue and gathering information on it I have not previously stepped into it because I did not have all the needed facts.

The run down/backstory: We created a Dosh Jacket for Mr. Foster intended as a timed exclusive that we could reuse at a later date. However during a period of time it is up to PCGamer to give out how they like (we have no input on how they distribute it to my knowledge).

Arguably it can be claimed that they originally marketed the code as exclusive to the print magazine version of PC Gamer. As far as I am aware the writing was intended to point out that the code would not be in the digital version of the magazine (not that it could not be used later).

Where we are now: There are currently 116,000 Dosh Jacket keys that have been distributed. In the steam backend there exists no way to separate the two groups of key holders (the original 100,000 and the 8,000 raffle followup keys - the original 8,000 raffle keys are distinguishable but due to the problems with those keys a switch was made for the followups that make them indistinguishable).

Options that are available to us:
1) We can make a change to 108,000 keys and moving forward there would be a different set (now that the other set is working) - what that change would be we don't know
2) I can ask Valve to refund the game for all members of a game group on Steam (they will likely tell me no, but I can ask).

Unfeasible options that are not available:
1) Remove all dosh keys (we can turn it off)
2) I can ask all users to provide a proof of purchase of the magazine at retail news stands or via the PC Gamer website (100,000 users)

Please don't change our skins. If I lose it again after trading a full game code for it I swear I'll stop playing this game.
There was a giveaway of the item. Everyone should just get over this. It was a giveaway. Those who bought the magazine surely couldn't have tought that they'll sell a few keys almost a year prior to early access release, and then it will never be avaible again. Based on this logic, everyone on Steam should get refunded for Left 4 Dead 2, Amnesia, Red Orchestra 2, Sniper Elite 2, Portal, etc. just because they bought it at one point, and then the game was avaible for free at another point. Exclusive items may be recurring. And once-in-a-lifetime items are just evil. You got your Dosh skins from the magazine A year later some people got them from a giveaway. The simplest thing in the world. Please get over it and dont take it away (especially after many of us traded items or money for the key).

This clearly proves my point..."Arguably it can be claimed that they originally marketed the code as exclusive to the print magazine version of PC Gamer. As far as I am aware the writing was intended to point out that the code would not be in the digital version of the magazine (not that it could not be used later). "
People tought it shall be printed in another number of the magazine, so sleezey wording and lies were used. ( so kinda PCGamer is to blame, but we did not know who was at fault until now, I hope if this situation happened TWI could ask them to stick to their word but alas imagination is infinite... )
What option will pick I do not know, personally after witnessing this I would refund my game but let us see what other people will do...

I think it's silly that people waste TWI's time with this crap. I'm upset that I didn't get a key but I don't spend hours each day whining about it, and yes I know this is a thread angry that more people got it, not a lack of.

That being said, get over it. It's a skin. I would love to have that skin, I have only ever played mr. Foster in the first and second game, but it's just a skin.

That's just how I feel about it, others probably feel differently. I hope they release more in the future.

Oh and another note: if they change the giveaway skins, then the magazine guys are going to not have a new unique skin (with no means to obtain it anymore).
And obviously the giveaway guys lose their Dosh skin.
It's bad for everybody. Please dont change our Dosh jackets.

Damn that is a pretty good point, wish somebody made that observation several pages ago it could have stopped this a very long time ago.

I honestly think Tripwire should just announce to Deal With It.
If they see how big of a mess this thing caused, then say sorry and promise not to do anything of this sort anymore, but the very best solution I still think is to just let this go and get over it.
And anyways, if I understand this correctly, Tripwire had minimal to do with this whole giveaway, it was PCGamer's thing.

Why changing the giveaway skins is not right perspective 1:
If I'm remember right (but I'm not sure on this one), the magazine said "Free Killing Floor 2 code inside" or something like that. The keyword is free. The Dosh skin was a present that came along with the paid magazine. If you bought the magazine just for the present that comes with it, it's your business - but the skin was free. Now they gave a number of them away - again for free.

Perspective 2: let's say you paid for the code. Well I paid for my internet access to enter the giveaway. And then I had to trade for it. The value of the skin can hardly be measured now, so they all should be treated as equal items.

Exactly, it would be best to make a whole new skin for the people who bought the magazine for the same char just different, or for a different character, whatever suits them best...

"If they see how big of a mess this thing caused, then say sorry and promise not to do anything of this sort anymore, but the very best solution I still think is to just let this go and get over it."

The sorry part is long long long long long long long overdue....Like that sorry should have been announced a month ago, kinda too late for it now, in my eyes tho...
Also to let this issue go? Im fine with it, I had nothing to do in it, I just wanted to help out the people who got ripped off in all of this, how they will react, the actual buyers on this, I have no idea, might be mixed but also might not...

"let's say you paid for the code. Well I paid for my internet access to enter the giveaway. And then I had to trade for it. The value of the skin can hardly be measured now, so they all should be treated as equal items."

You paid for your internet acces which was what? Less than 5 mins to write your own e-mail... The value of the skin went down, from how much I don't know, but by my standarts they shouldn't be threated equals, even tho I have no idea how, if they were slightly different then sure, but sadly they aren't... They look the same from the magazine...

"I think it's silly that people waste TWI's time with this crap. I'm upset that I didn't get a key but I don't spend hours each day whining about it, and yes I know this is a thread angry that more people got it, not a lack of.

Yeah, everyone would prolly want that skin, but myself, I would actually feel like a huge d-i-c-k if I got the skinn...for free...in a raffle...by the same company that said it wouldn't be out in an ePrint versionn.....
And sure its just a skin, but did you waste 10-30$, no? Then why are you writing that? Even tho I didn't lose anything Im still here trying to help em out...

Hello all interested parties in this thread.

I

Options that are available to us:
1) We can make a change to 108,000 keys and moving forward there would be a different set (now that the other set is working) - what that change would be we don't know
I think this would be good.

1 seems like the only good option.

Anyone who wants a full refund on a game because of a skin is not a fan and just OCD about cosmetics. I'd be ashamed to play on a server with someone like that... well I guess I wouldn't since they'd get a refund and lose access to the game.

I have a key that someone gave me, but it's one of those wacky keys that doesn't work because it's missing a digit. I don't have any claim to a win so I can't get a working key but you know what? It's just a skin and I'd rather support TWI and KF2 instead of making them use up time investigating this when it's PC Gamer that people should be complaining to, not TWI.

First, thank you very much for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate that you heard us and reached out.

I think that making a change to the skin for the codes in place would be an excellent resolution. Perhaps just changing the DOSH to the green color of dosh in game, or OD - Original Dosh.

I can request a response from the people in the group to try to get a majority response so we can put the issue to an end as quickly and easily as possble.

Again , thank you for responding and thank you for explaining the situation.

Respectfully,
Bigguns 93

So then there will be 106000 red Dosh skins and 8000 different coloured. Guess which one would be more exclusive and unobtainable? It's a terrible idea. It creates 2 skins from 1 that cannot be obtained in any way. It's literal bull**** so to speak.

I think splitting the skin in two would have more repercussions than just leaving it be.

GROUP 1: "WTF they got a green dosh skin?! Green is my favorite color, this is bull****!"

GROUP 2: "WTF why is my jacket green and why is theirs red? I hate green, this is bull****!"

Just an example...

If option 1 will be picked( in the Steam group and in the thread option 1 is the top pick so far ) I have a feeling which colour is the best for you guys will be asked and the colour with the majority of the votes wins, or something like Bigguns said, exactly the same except OD on it or something like that...

This seems very highly unlikely, but everyone keeps the PCG set, but with a proof of purchase, you will gain another cosmetic skin set/weapon skin.
Call me crazy but its a idea.
