Hi there!

First of all, thank you for this game because I'll enjoy it for a looong looong time. I have played for a lot RO and DH and there is one thing that I really think is better in RO1 than RO2. That's the automatic zoom when ironsight.

I like to focus pressing shift key for a better aiming, but I dont like the automatic zoom just "ironsighting". It depends on the weapon because the zoom is different in each weapon, but in my opinion the best way would be to zoom only with the shift key.

I think so because now with a bolt rifle is very difficult to cover just a door or to aim in a short range. It supposes more hip-shooters, and I dont really like them. :)

What do you guys think?

PS: One more thing, please TW team, decrease the size of my head. I think It's a very easy target :D

ROgame.ini

look under:
[ROGame.ROPlayerController]

then the setting:
IronSightZoomScaleSMG=0.500000
IronSightZoomScaleRifle=0.500000
IronSightZoomScaleBipod=0.500000

change these amounts between 0 and 1, where 0 means no IS zoom.

Thank you, I didn't know that...

It was possible also in RO1? because I was playing for years without notice it... xD

I think I misread the OP, but still thought it was an awesome suggestion.

I like my zoom for great distances (of course), but sometimes unexpectedly you enter a building. Then I want to change that ration in-game to not zoom when Iron sighted.

In short: Make the Iron sight not zoom, and the zoom button zoom (just as OP said), so you have broad view in a building and when you enter the fields you just hit a key.

Maybe just a key that changes that in options would be fine to though.

I tried this & got the values changed to 0 but there still seems to be some zoom when I bring up the sights--it may be less than before, I can't really tell. Is this normal or did I do something incorrectly?

i wish the entire Zoom thing would be removed.
i know its there to simulate that you are focused, but HELLO. ZOOM?
what is even the point of the sniper class in the game? all guns have "scopes" now :(

If they want for some reason to restrict your field of view when IS are up couldn't they just make the periphery of the screen blurry/out of focus? this is more like what the actual human eye would do anyway. It certainly wouldn't zoom in like the Six Million Dollar Man or something.

Bluring the edges of the screen has nothing to do with enhancing the image to more closely resemble the resolution of your actual eyeballs.

You don't lose peripheral in real life when looking at things on a 1:1 scale. The loss of peripheral is a limitation of the limited resoloution of our computer monitors. In order to see things on a real scale, the monitor has to narrow the angle it is depicting on screen. You can't show the nearly 180 degree peripheral vision a human has on a flat 22" computer screen without distorting the image. The "zoom" removes this distortion and shows you what your actual, human eyes would see on a 1:1 scale, costing you your peripheral in the process.

I'd much rather have the zoom function and realistically depicted rifle combat than no zoom function and unrealistically short range combat.

The zoom and the additional free aim while in iron sights (free aim with hip shooting is great!), are the biggest show stoppers for me personally.

Just a question: approximately how much of the upper end of your weapon range would be lost by eliminating zoom? I'm not talking about using listed effective range for each weapon in your calculation either, those don't take human error into account--don't believe it? Look up the effective range for a Browning 50 cal, which rarely if ever uses a scope. Does combat in ROHOS take place at beyond the range you can see on your monitor with no zoom often anyway? Maybe these ranges should be mostly left to the scoped sniper? They're supposedly able to make more difficult shots than an unscoped rifleman, right?

Another factor: what's a typical monitor size people are using? I got an Asus 27" led for not too much.
