Don't chamber the LAR until the fire button is released

I recently turned down my mouse sensitivity and I'm finding the hate part of my love-hate relationship with the LAR considerably lessened. But there's still one thing that kinda bothers me about it - other guns like the pistol and the commando weapons on semi, it's almost literally the blink of an eye between when you've pulled the trigger and when your sights are aligned again, but with the LAR you immediately get to this long and very noticeable animation where the front sight moves a considerable distance across the couple degrees you're focussing on before you've had much time to stop looking at it. I don't know about anyone else, but except for some baby-level point-blank stuff I almost invariably lose the ability to make a followup shot with my aim thrown off like that.

Conversely, sometimes there's a good chance I've already killed the zed with the first shot, but I have to waste quite a bit of time to get visual confirmation after being distracted.

So a suggestion: How about make the LAR so that, if you hold the fire button, you'll shoot and keep looking down the sights until you let go at which point the animation starts playing the chambering animation?

(I suppose this could work for xbow and shotguns too... - not the shotguns since srsly who is crazy enough to use the sights on those)

You clearly don't play Support that much. When firing at something like a Siren at anything BUT point-blank, it's nice being able to use the sights to make sure I'm centered on her to ensure good pellet coverage. Since an off-center shot can be the difference between needing one shell or two shells, and the delay between the shots can be her screaming and dealing damage, I like to take that quick second to make sure I drop her with the first shot. It's also handy when lining-up shots of multiple specimens in a row. Nothing more satisfying than herding them into a line, taking a quick glance down the sights, then letting rip and watching a full hallway empty-out.

That said though, Support isn't an aiming-intensive perk since we're usually at point-blank with our targets. I can tell if my shot connected because if it didn't I still have a screen full of specimen. Meanwhile, I can fully sympathize with Sharpshooter's having that problem as I also hate when I launch-off a bolt, but I can't quite see if the Scrake dropped. Sometimes I can see it clearly, but other times it can be harder to see (especially if there's a Demo/Firebug). If I'm watching multiple fronts as a Sharpy, it'd be nice to know if the threat is down so I can check the other line, or to know if it's up and I need to take another shot.

I use the flashlight for quick-sights on the shotgun because it actually stays up after firing, instead of requiring me to retoggle it.
I sometimes do that, but it honestly isn't that accurate of a crosshair since the light only really shines on surfaces, and odds are that your target isn't crawling on the ground (unless it's a Crawler, of course). This is especially the case when I'm trying to pick-off a Siren from just outside her scream radius. A well-aimed shot and I can usually drop her in one or two shells, where it'll take twice as much if I try to blind-fire from that much distance. Problem is, you can't really aim with the flashlight from that distance, so I use the iron-sight.

Yea flashlight is your free crosshair but i recommend learning to shoot without ironsight.
Oh yeah. Believe me, roughly 95% of my shots are from the hip when I'm playing Support (not counting times I look down the ironsight just for the dramatic flair of it). The only shots I take the time to specifically line-up are cases where being even slightly off-center can lose a lot of damage and effectively waste that shell.

LOL I am. I use sights a lot with hunting shotgun, otherwise its much harder to get a clear shot at where you are aiming at. Also sometimes I use sights with the regular shotgun to take down bloat heads or sirens from a distance.

But not with AA12.

I only use the sights with the Hunting Shotgun when I'm messing around, it's not really useful with that spread, it just looks cooler imo.

I may be wrong but support specialist is one of the easier perk to hipshooting due to the number of pellets flying you could easily remove the head. Unlike commando you only fire 1 bullet at a time which the first few shot would miss the head instead hitting the neck or chest.
The pellet spread doesn't really do much if you're too off-target for the pellets to hit, anyway. Nah, the reason Support can hip-shoot more easily than other Perks is because our optimal killing range is only slightly more ranged than the Berserker's. The closer a specimen gets, the easier it is to tell when he's in the middle of your screen.

Pretty much you explain all of it and i agree with them but the pellets do excel at taking down a large group of zeds from far distances if u kite them abit.

I don't really understand how the chambering of a new round and expulsion of an old round can screw your aiming up. It never bothered me when i used the LAR or pump shotgun. But hey, everyone is different i guess.

Hell, the only beefs i have with the pump shotty is that it doesn't have enough ammo(maybe bump the ammo % for support up a little? it stays the same from 3-5) and that when you reload it takes up ALL of your screen pretty much. I'm not that interested in gun porn, i'd rather have it off to the side so i don't have to tilt my camera down just to see where i'm going.

@Vaecrius

The LAR has the absurd recoil because it is a beast. I have gotten used to firing it at reasonable close hoards without iron sighting and am able to get at least 6-8 clean headshots every time I empty it.

Then again with the level of specs it drops eaily, you would almost want to go with pistol (for SS) or a perk weapon for any other perk.

If you still insist on your way, then I would suggest you use hold-to-iron sight and you release the button every time you fire. It gives you confirmation of your shot, lets you evaluate other threats, and only eats the fire delay time.
