Do you think scrakes will ever get fixed?

I think if you took away fp decaps the beserkers would stop running off on their own all the time like they're immortal. Which to me is a plus because it more enforces teamwork.

what servers are you playing on??? that doesnt happen very often on suicidal.....the few times you get some cocky nub in there at level2 zerker with his katana, he dies in about 15 seconds and will rage quit anyway ;)

I tend to play on normal. So I guess it's my fault that I see people like that lol

To be fair, ANY Level 5 perk that knows what they're doing can run off alone on Normal and be basically an unstoppable juggernaut. ANY perk. Even Medic.

I found a difference with the xbow headshots between a dedicated server and a listen server, try it for yourself.

On a listen server, the headshot works perfectly by shooting the HEAD.

On a dedicated server, the headshot is off the head (scrake's left ear.)

I'd demo it, but I don't have the power. It is interesting though, that on a listen server the hitbox detection is different.

That's why we call it "listen". The soul must be inside the body for it to be able to listen, why "dedicated" is just ... dedicated, and thus, no need for listen

ftw

eh, depends on the max zombie count but I suppose you're right. fp's would still be difficult though. unless you're cheap and use the decap glitch.

Not a glitch...intended. And as you said, with the decap, they aren't a problem at all because on Normal, Level 5 medic can almost outrun a raged Fleshpound...

I tried it and you're EXACTLY right. Which is why I think the Tripwire guys tried it (Probably with a solo game) and didn't see what we were talking about...

On a listen server or a solo game, the hitbox is fine. On a dedicated server, though, its disjointed...

We won't have true resolve unless we can get some TWI input on it...

i wanted to find out what sort of input TWI could input into this discussion. so i put on my gorilla suit and started to ask around.

J -"hi TWI, can you tell me anything about the scrake hitbox"

TWI -"why are you in a gorilla suit?"

J -"...why are YOU in a gorilla suit?"

TWI -"this is a T shirt"

J -"well youre very hairy."

sorry guys, but you know what they say, better luck next time!

fix this please, when bioticslab was copied over, the skins for these books were not ported over with it, maybe because of copyright reasons? so could another skin be applied to them?

I'm not talking about with the Knife... Did you seriously think I'd be trying to decap one with a knife? Or that I'd be playing as a medic without buying any weapons? Wow...

Usually the Bullpup or AK are my weapons of choice for the decapping as a medic, but a Katana, Handcannon, or even 9mm work well enough. I've never actually been suicidal or desperate enough to try a decap with a knife...

Anyways...BACK ON TOPIC!

This needs looked at some more. So far, we know that the Scrake headshot hitbox is off on Dedicated but not Listen Servers/Solo Games. Do any other specimens have similar issues?

Also, after extensive testing, I think that the Gorefast hitbox isn't quite as off as I used to think. It's just the fact that their head wobbles so freaking much coupled with the fact that you need a jaw-shot on them for it to decap properly...

I'm not sure why people are complaining about the hitboxes so much. If scrakes give you trouble just buy a katana and stun it to death. Lets face it, an xbow vs. a scrake=you're pretty much boned.

That's the thing, you're NOT boned at all. You can kill it in one headshot with the Crossbow!

The trouble is, to get it to count as a headshot and 1-hit kill him, you have to shoot at the air almost a full 2 inches to the right of his head, not even aiming at the head itself! That's what the complaint is about...

ah okay. well I dont think it should be able to be one shotted with the xbow anyway. unless you mean with a lvl 5 sharpshooter.

The Crossbow's damage is ridiculous. Anyone who think's it's a lackluster weapon isn't properly hitting the headshots properly. I was one of 'em, as before I knew about the Scrake headshot area, seeing several bolts hit a Scrake between the eyes to no real effect was kinda discouraging.

Most Crossbow "Headshots" that seem weak are simply not connecting properly. I notice it all the time with Gorefasts and Bloats, due to their wobble. If a bolt connects properly with one, it's instantly fatal, even for a Non-Sharpshooter playing on Hard... A 6-player, Hard Bloat only ~1,600 HP...no match for the Crossbow's 1,800 damage headshot (See below!).

On Normal, a Level 2+ Sharpshooter can 1-shot the Scrake. On Hard, a Level 4+ can do it. In the hands of a Sharpshooter, the X-Bow gets +damage%, PLUS does 6x damage on a headshot as it always does, PLUS gets the extra headshot multiplier!

I'll demonstrate how sickly powerful it is with some simple math:

-Crossbow does 300 damage, 6x on a Headshot. So a non-sharpshooter scoring a headshot does a total of 1,800 DAMAGE! Thus, even on Hard, a non-sharpshooter (IE: Medic with Crossbow) does enough damage to kill a Scrake with two headshots in your average 6-player game. And a single one will do enough damage to stun!

-A Level 3 Sharpshooter does:

300 + 90 (30% bonus damage) * 6 (Headshot) * 1.3 (SS Headshot) = 3,042 Damage in ONE SHOT! Easily enough to down any Scrakes on Normal and most on Hard!

-A Leve 5 Sharpshooter does:

300+ 150 (50% bonus) * 6 * 1.5 (SS Headshot) = 4,050 Damage! Kills all Scrakes on Hard in one shot and will 2-shot any, even on Suicidal!

crossbow does equal rape!..................so long as you shoot the right hitbox location :D

i never fully appreciated this weapon until i got to level4 and learned about where to aim. it also seemed like the bolts were too expensive to afford so it wasnt worth it, but once you start taking scrakes down in 1 shot and force patties to kneel after 2, it's quite fun to use.
