I don't think this should be in tactics, it seems more like general discussion to me.

Do any of you ever play Killing Floor on low graphics? I play it on the second lowest graphics thing because for some reason I play much better without all the good graphics and distractions (and I have an overclocked beast computer so this isn't really about framerate.)

Having it on the highest graphics looks pretty but then at the same time everything feels more faster and my aim feels off for some reason.

Does anyone else feel this?

Sounds like a placebo effect. I don't see why high settings would make your aim "off" unless you were experiencing graphical lag. I always crank settings up as much as I can without making my computer cry, or sacrificing FPS too much.

I only play in lower settings if the PC I'm using is a bit underpowered (like my laptop), otherwise it's on High all the way.

I dont like to play with sub 60 FPS , it feels too choppy.

Do you play all your other games on low? Ever since I got a decent comp, I can't stand playing anything on medium or have the avg fps below 60. I'm not in your shoes so all I can say is if it helps you to play on low settings, then get to killing!! :D

Medium or low doesnt really bother me, I am not a GFX freak. I prefer gameplay over eye candy.

Though I play in high as long as the FPS dont drop below 60.

I like both , I have a decent gaming comp so I max out the games I can , and enjoy them the most.

PS : My PC overheats like HELL , I had to put 3 coolers in it. And since I installed the 3rd and last one wich is.. well...BIG , I doesn't overheats anymore. ( When it did , framerate dropped to 10 and below for seconds , did anyone had this problem before btw?)

As I can remember, an issue about lowering graphics detail to improve aiming exists form the original Doom. My online gaming experience had started in 1995, when we were connecting 2 computers via serial cable to play Doom 2. And even then some my friends were switching to low detail, because, as they said, it improved their aiming. Now the most ridiculous thing - in those years we were so lame, so we weren't using a mouse, playing only on keyboard with default key layout. And now try to think, could low detail improve aiming with keyboard?

Most popularity awful graphics gained in Quake 3 era, now continuing in QuakeLive. I played Q3 with r_picmip 5 too, in the beginning mostly because with higher detail level my old pc couldn't grant stable 125fps framerate required for most comfort gameplay (e.g.you can't make a jump to megahealth on q3dm13 with lower framerate). And then just got used to it. I haven't played q3 for a couple of years, and when quakelive was released, I gave a try the highest detail (r_picmip 0). And you know, nothing changed. Need some time to get used to it, but now I can't say that I'm playing worser than on low detail. It is just a matter of habit. And I don't need to screw my eyes anymore.

Now about KF. If in Quake you are playing against other humans, and if lowering graphics can "theoretically" improve you gaming, let's say, by a couple of percents, then it can be accepted. But in Killing Floor you are playing against AI, which skill can't grow up comparing to yours, I don't see a reason to lower graphics even if improves your aiming a little bit. The only reason for lowering graphics I see is low-end computers, which can't provide comfortable framerate on higher levels of graphics detail.

I play on lower just to have the 80-100 FPS.

I perfer significant FPS over looking decent.

I'm visually impaired so, the only noticable thing with High is the Bloom, and I hate bloom.

With KF, or any other game, I play on the highest graphic settings I can so long as I have a playable frame rate.

I've never been one to lower settings or turn off things so I can get an edge over other players. My ego isn't such that I have to try and one-up everyone else that way.

I play on mostly decent settings (with no bloom or AA since I think they are pointless), although I play at a resolution of 800x600 because my graphics card is poor and I like as smooth a frame rate as possible. The only thing that bothers me is the way the HUD doesn't scale, so you end up with massive elements that take up half your screen.

I have noticed the same effect in games too, if the feel is more "gamey", I tend to perform a lot better, maybe because of less visual distraction but still, I dont like to make the graphics worse than I need to :p

And also in addition to performing better, theres just somekind of feel, atmosphere, mood when playing with low graphics, I really like it, the "gamey" feel/mood, but still I enjoy it only if I need :p Its a two-headed spear :(

I played maxed out 1366x768 but without Bloom. Sometimes without weather effects too, depending if my laptop is deciding it wants to run hot. That or I've got Crysis Warhead running in the background. I did that once by accident. Lets say I couldn't hear a Clot from the fan running so much.

Yes, but not by choice. 1024x768 with medium settings, and no AA is about the best I can run it. 1440x900 -works- but it feels off, and stutters a bit.

Oddly enough any setting lower than what I have now doesn't increase performance any. Getting lit up by a husk still drops my fps to 15, and sirens are worse. Some maps like Wyre (at least in the actual forest parts) and Departed are impossible to play.

I play at 1280x960 at max graphical settings sans the bloom with the AA whatever else smoothing options set to the max. With the frames uncapped via netspeed my online average is about 120 except on Farm when I'm in the corn fields, then it goes down because of all the AA it's doing.

I play KF on the highest graphics settings with some AA, maybe 2x or something.

It lets me take nice shots with a quality like this:

Low, but not Lowest; it helps my connection and FPS not all that much, but enough for me to quickly trade it out; I need everything I can get in this case (yes, I'm usually the one lagging into a wall). Lowest settings just doesn't cut it for me, and doesn't really help all that much, so for now its Low for me.
