I've been trying to play with manual bolting, and enjoy it. I really don't find it to be a huge change, but it has caught me a few times where I've managed to forget to bolt because I went for a bayonet charge. Oddly enough this failure tends to make me laugh at myself for being an idiot.

Good times either way. I enjoy having the control option.

Manual. The only reason anyone would want auto is if they, forget to click again or don't like to click twice.

I choose auto mainly because I'm used to it from the mod days. I used manual just fine in RO1, but since I automatically click the button again right after shooting to rebolt, it's no different than having it auto-bolt, except I reduce the amount of clicks I need to make by half.

Even if I don't need to re-bolt right away, I'm still doing it by instinct, so there's no point for me having it on manual.

Manual bolting because I'm a creature of habit. Don't care much though. Not like it helps. If manual bolting was on a separate button then at least it could be used to empty a rifle so you can reload it - and it would feel better too, imo, but as it is...
Oh well.

I find that there is something very satisfying about manually bolting, especially when you are doing it as fast as you can to take down several targets. If I had never played ro1/2 I probably would have thought that it would be a silly idea that simply pressing the mouse button again could increase immersion on a weapon so much, but it does.

I think it adds a psychological element in terms of how a player interprets the slower firing speeds compared to a semi auto as well. On most games that have both bolts and semis if you are stuck with the bolt you spend a lot of time thinking "argh so much downtime between shots." I never really feel that on the ro1 games, because you are actually - in your mind at least - doing something.

Also, once you are used to it, it becomes almost sub-conscious.

Manual always - was great addition to RO1 and now a habit.

Even on semi-auto's I crank off two rounds sometimes by accident!
