After some troubles with the game(unresponsiveness with the ingame server browser, crashes and such), I decided to delete the ROgame.exe file, all ini files in "Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config" except ROinput.ini, and went to "Verify integrity of game cache" - right click RO2 in steam game list - properties - Local files.

After the process was finished 17 files(!!) were reported to be invalid and they were replaced.

I restarted my computer, for just in case, and than everything was working exceptionally well, even the in game browser was 1:1 to the one on the steam.

I strongly suggest everyone who did not do this, to do it even after every update.

Hope it helps.

Agreed, I have crash issues and "falling through" all the time. I was missing ~4megs of files (not sure if related, but I'm sure it wasn't helping).

I have begun recently experience a strange bug where either my gun or my hands (never both at the same time) becomes invisible. I verified my game cache and later today I am gonna check out if it helped with that problem.

I couldn't agree more. You cannot always assume steam will update your platform promptly after a software push. So do this every time you hear of one. This procedure is an old and useful steam tool, and everyone should be familiar with it.

Long story short - Steam is utterly rubbish on many occasions, and is the culprit for these "damaged" files. Steam has, in the past, also caused me to download entire games again - a quick integrity check suddenly shrinks to a handful of files, and the game is fine. I hate Steam, but suffer it's crapness because you're basically stuck with it once you've made some purchases :) Valve fix only the problems on the surface - it's download management is poor on a connection with low bandwidth, causing the interface to regularly "not respond" until the current downloads are complete. They're a bunch of slackers at Valve HQ, and always will be :)

I think deleting clientregistry, blob just makes steam go through the update process again though, so it wouldn't fix the server browser, killing floor also does this sometimes, just browser picks up nothing. If I remember correctly there was something linked with killing floor and homefront or soemthing (homefront also lost browser often) where you have to replace a couple of files. It has probs been mentioned before I see if I can find it.

this was it http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1828979

it fixed homefront and killingfloor for me, might be worth a shot if you haven't tried already

Aye, I think the server browser issues are linked to Valve master servers being unavailable or intermittently faulty - which does ring true, given that the server list is coming from those servers.

Also, I think deleting the blob file is mostly for when you have games missing from your list, but you definitely have the local files for them. In the past, if you copy your Steam install wholesale to another machine - upgrade time for example - it would freak the list out, and games would be missing. If Steam starts and no clientregistry.blob exists, it will effectively rebuild it from the local cache files it detects.

yeah that makes sense, the only time I have ever needed to do it was for that reason, start to download games, pause them all, close steam, delete clientregistry.blob, restart steam unpause downloads. Such a time-saver.

Let me guess, you did the trick to get native voices? That would explain a lot;)

Yes I did have that trick, but even so, voice trick changes 14 files, 15th file was ROgame.exe I deleted, so what were the other two?

Point is, the file integrity thing has a good chance of fixing your game before you have to reinstall it.

I went as far as posting my dmp logs to the corresponding thread, and the fault was all on my computer, not the game.
