the graphics are without a doubt up to par, perhaps you would do well to have the cracks in your glasses fixed, or invest in contact lenses alternatively; or mayhap obtain a computer that can run it on higher than the lowest setting.

My computer runs Unreal 3 on Ultra

It runs RO2 on High ok (AA off)

I put it up to Ultra just to see the visuals and what I've seen was still outdated....Sorry

Stop lying to yourself, graphics are outdated

i don't know why they stuck with September 2010 UDK.. im pretty sure the more recent versions are way more optimized.

I just hope they get the new Unreal engine right

and Tripwire brings us finished game next time around.

Although, RO2 has potential (please don't get me wrong)

As someone who loves RO2, let me tell you in all honesty this game is not for everyone and it is not in a perfected state.

If you're not much of a multiplayer gamer this may not be for you, sure it has singleplayer but the focus of Red Orchestra is the multiplayer, so don't expect the singleplayer to keep you satisfied by itself because that's more like an add-on than a main focus.

This is a slower-paced, thinking man's game that is very satisfying to be good at but feels difficult and frustrating to people who aren't very tactical-minded. It's not incredibly easy to play and is extremely difficult to master but feels incredibly rewarding when you get there. You have to work as a team and you have to be effective as a team to win.

If you can look past the current bugs and performance issues that are going to be fixed in due course this game is mindblowing. For me personally it is all about the immersive atmosphere that feels brutal.

Tripwire are a small developer, they don't have a budget that is millions of dollars and they don't have a huge team of people who are trained to pump out sequel after sequel every 6 months. But just know that they care about their game and they care about their customers and they are doing everything they can to make the game right. RO2 is an ambitious project for them and some people can't respect that what they are doing is pushing the boundries which other developers are too afraid to.

I would say buy it if you enjoy WWII combat, killing Germans, or other things that are fun.

I would say wait to buy it if you have a inhumanly low tolerance for frustration and an over-inflated sense of entitlement, like most people on this board.

Also, it's like $35 bucks or something. It's not like it's a huge gamble.

I made the part where I commented on most people here bold, italic, and underlined to draw attention to the fact that it applies to them.

likely its not the graphics are the issue, but that the lack of an unrealistic eye candy polished plastic sheen on every object makes it look less shiny on every surface.

Umm... You have something terribly wrong with your eyes if you are serious here.

Well said, I believe the issue here is that unrealistic graphics look good, and when they are realistic, some people then complain about it :p

Firstly just like to say hello to everyone :).

I actually haven't purchased this game yet, i have been sitting reading the forum's for the last few days trying to figure out the rubbish from the truth, which is easier said than done as alot of subjects ect are opinion based.

I'm completely new to the RO franchise (never played the original) and only really heard about it recently. I'm a mature gamer (35+) and i have a love for all games (Especially eq2/eve because i love games with depth).

My question is (i know im dragging it out:p) I love fps and i have played all the obvious ones you can think of, is RO2 a game that will be slow burning, easy to play but hard to master is it something i can sink my teeth into over the next few years?

I have my credit card ready just need a little push in the right direction;)

I see your ramble and raise you my ramble...

You are very correct, there is a ton of Rubbish on the forums. Don't let this discourage you, the loud angry voices on the forums are the ones having the bigger issues, but there are still so so many players that don't have these game breaking issues. They are hardly posting because they are actually player.

I am also very new to the Red Orchestra franchise and to Tripwire themselves. My brother gifted me a copy of Killing Floor during their big summer sale back in July. The game looked very unappealing to me at first. Looked very gritty, but I gave it a go. Game completely grew on me within days and I loved it. Game play was awesome.

During the loading screens, they sometimes had advertisements for RO1. I've a very big fan of FPS as well, but especially WWII FPS. MoH: AA was where that started. So this ad caught my eye and I found my way here where I found out they had a follow title of RO2.

So I began to dig in and reading on it. I ended up preordering a copy of the DDE in July. Trust me when I say this, I've been trolling around on the forums for the past 2 months, but this last month these forums have been flooded with new posters. Yes I am a new poster, but people come on here and just cry cry cry without taking the time to look and read up on something. So the forums have turned into an impatient QQ fest, so I understand your concern in reading through the forums.

Now that my life story's been told (not really) I will tell you about this game. I played through Beta and have been playing since release. I haven't had this much fun playing a shooter in years. The game play is awesome, the game itself is beautiful. Not cutting (comparing to BF3 who went for the realism look), but the amount of detail in the weapons, characters, and maps are truly amazing. The sound is what really pulls you into the game. Yes the game play is awesome, but the sound tops it off.

I suppose I've been one of the more fortunate ones to not have some of these game breaking issues and the game has just been so much fun. I haven't had this much fun in a WWII shooter since CoD2, MoH: AA, and BF1942. Makes me sad that I was unaware of RO1 when it first came out.

This is just my personal experience thus far. If you end up buying, you may be one of the unfortunate ones to have a game breaking issue, fear not. Tripwire has an excellent staff and they are working non-stop to work out these bugs for everyone. Some people are just far more impatient than others. Like others have suggested, a little bit of waiting may be the most ideal solution for you. But if it works for you, I would have a hard time believing that you would be disappointed in the game.

Again, just my opinion, which is different from everyone else

TBH, I'd say buy it ASAP! look at this was....while TWI is hard at work fixing the bugs. this will give you a chance to learn the mechanics of the game. understand the weapons, learn the map...etc.

Not to mention we will soon have a mod tool, so you'll see lots of user created content, and new mod Rising Storm coming next summer.

so all in all.....I think it's a "MUST" buy!

Realistic ehh?

I will leave it at that. Again I don't care about graphics but just don't tell me they are "cutting edge" or on par or better than Bad Company 2 or some of the new titles.

i dont get why people keep saying its slow paced right now it seems very fast paced with all the semis and full autos running around.....

my advice is get it but maybe not right now, if you can wait (which i couldnt obviously couldnt) you should, you will be happier with it and it will be a better deal.

though i dont regret getting a pre-order. its still fun to play.

The game a bit unforgiving at first but it doesn't take long to learn how things work. The game rewards patience and has a lot more depth than your average shooter. If you're planning on spending a lot of time on it the bugs won't matter as they'll probably be fixed within a month. My opinion: go for it. Maybe you'll want to wait a week or two but it doesn't really matter. In the end I think you'll love it.

What kind of drugs do you do?

You are out of your mind, I'm sorry. RO2 looks like a 4-5 year old game when it comes to graphics.

I'm not exactly a fan of Bad Company 2. its an ok game.

Also, I don't really care much for graphics and prefer the actual gameplay....but don't tell me graphics are up to par where current gaming industry stands.

NO WAY

Do you realize what a 4-5 year old game looks like?

What "industry standards" do you speak of? Crysis 2/Metro 2033? Those are hardly standards. IMO it already looks better than all of the pc CoDs and considering size and scope of the gameplay that is pretty great.

It'll only get better. TWI is definitely far more deserving of gamers' money than other hacks out there, and for under $40 brand new it's hard to beat.

Give it a shot.

Well, there are bugs.
But mainly, at least in my experience, they are from the area that matter the least to me: stats not saving correctly for instance.
The gameplay itself works just fine with little to no trouble (only thing i still have occasionally is that a first click of the mouse wont fire my weapon and i have to click a second time, but its rare yet highly annoying, and the occasional CTD) and i can have fun just playing the game.

As to the question if this is a game you can sink your teeth into for years, then yes.
Many times more so than with any other FPS out there, apart from the obvious stuff like ArmA 2 for instance. It is a one of a kind type of gameplay, found nowhere else.
It is very hard if you dont play smart, and there is always room for improving yourself. This is a thinking man's shooter most of all, and not a shooter based on your speed reaction skills, and that makes it highly replayable and something that can take years of your life :)
