Do burning tanks every actually 'die' from the fire?

Ok, several times last night I saw tanks and vehicles on fire still moving and fighting. In one case, I hit one of the Russian buggies with a 75mm HE round (from a panther). It lit on fire, and trailed smoke, but the driver was still alive, and just drove off behind some buildings before I could reload. I saw a t-34 on Ogledow moving and shooting with the engine obviously burning (flame and thick black smoke). It got hit again by another round and blew up so I didn't get a chance to see if it finally burned up.

I was hoping one of the devs could comment on this before I get home and have to do exhaustive tests on my own. :D

If you set a tank on fire in a non-explosive way, so that it shows flame and smoke, will the fire ever actually consume / disable the tank and / or kill the crew if they don't bail out?
