DLC shouldn't be spoke off in the PC world, its a console thing for idiots who pay €13.50 for 5 maps, So **** Consoles and **** Call of Duty games. What PC has created which we don't see a lot of now is EXPANSION PACKS. The two words are different.
Downloadable content is at the moment in fps's, maps for the current game whereas Expansion pack, extends the game with vehicles, guns, more singleplayer, more multiplayer etc (eg. doom3 + expansion, medal of honor allied assault, spearhead, breakthrough etc). So its not just 5 ****ing ****ty maps. It would be great for tripwire to do a downloadable expansion pack for maybe €45 (depending whats in it) with more maps, tanks, guns, maybe another faction such as british, american, japanese...whatever. I think this would be a smart move, to extend the life of the game and then on top of that were going to see mods and ****. I really want to see this game do well and for tripwire to squeeze every last bit of juice out of it, so please tripwire, market the game well, do expansions and stuff like that and it will definately do well. Heres and idea, get the game on the front page of youtube where you will get millions of clicks within a week, if thats not marketing I don't know what is, all you have to do is become a youtube parner, advertise with youtube, or just contact them. End of Rant.

Because we aren't forced to subscribe to a game or pay for dlc and expansions, doesn't mean that we have to like it and the effects it brings to the community of the game.

pointless thread..noone forces you to buy dlc/addons/overpricedmappacks...

Which isnt' the point -- it's the principle of the matter. This thread is essentially a rant against the cheap marketing tools of a new generation of games. I'm beginning to feel like a version of that stereotypical grandpa who sits on his front porch, shaking his fist at the punks on the street and at the times in general ... "back when I was a gamer, we didn't bother with DLC!"

noone forces us to buy DLC, but companies sure as hell use it as a way to only release 75% of their games only to release the other 25% as DLC. effectively increasing the regular price of the game to double what it should be.

yap..and it "our own fault" as customers to "support" companys that do so...

Obviously there is enough people out there that buy "DLCs" so the "marketing people" where right since it increases the "sales figures".

Maybe someday people are feed up with crap like that and stop buying...

...which is everyone's point. you come in here knocking the discussion and then say exactly the point. you confuse me.

Anyway, agree with the general consensus in here: DLC is complete garbage. However, I never even liked expansion packs. They were sort of like the original DLC's to me. I always wished they'd just make the proper sequel instead of an "official mod".
