so you have 4 maps all 1/4 empty *chucks them away* oh wait you just wasted a whole mag . I see no benefit from doing this.

Not a bad idea, saves loading a near empty mag when you have a full one, but i guess the mags will be prioritised to give you the heaviest one. It makes sense.

Also first post:D. I've been lurking for a while and finally joined.

Because it's not like both sides has a shortage of ammunition at Stalingrad.

I'm sure thats how they will set it up, and in that case there is no point. If you don't want to load a mag with 2 shots in it, then fire them off before you change clip.

welcome to the forums :) btw your sig is abit large

An option to combine mags, however time consuming, would come in handy when you're down to three magazines with less than five rounds each, or some such scenario.

Since many times I have lived long enough to run out of ammo, I fail to see how this would help me and others like me :D

Well it depends in Roost you always load mags in order. I personally often reload with 3 bullets left. Then at some time you might reload and get the empty mag instead of a near full one.

But in general I just think that when reloading you should always pick the fullest one in your batch.

Definately, you would notice if the mag you grabbed was very light, and besides, since you had to store away a near empty mag, you should know in which pouch you put it anyway.

This would be even more true of Clips, where you can easilly see how much is left on it (well atleast i hope we get to use Clips to top off a mag, like you can in reality, and aren't forced to empty the gun first).

Likewise, it would be just peachy if we could dump any near empty mags and replace them with full, or near full ones when you grab the ammo from the dead, though i hope that's allready how it works.

Theres a dynamic weight system. Do mags count for that?

I'm not sure I think it would just be a set number not weight based, otherwise people may sit on ammo grates to get a stockpile.

mmm perhaps but would it not be a better idea to just go to a resupply point?

I have two submissions to make in response to my friends. In practical terms near empty magazines are dangerous to use in a live firefight and will be retained but not used. Secondly resupplying can be better integrated and ammo management has higher value.

ALREADY BEEN DUSCIUSED IN GREAT TIEM CONSUMMING DETALE!!!

anyway.....heres my option witch i think works great with little work for the devs...

i press R..as soon as the animation grabs the mag..it tells me how heavy/light it is....if its to light for my liking i can press R again (basicly press r..3/4 of a sec later press R again to laod another mag, press R again if to light ETC) to load another mag.

it introduces a slight delay, depending on how fast you press R again, as if the mag is half way in the gun its going to take longer then a mag thats half out of the ammo belt...

out paintballing i know what pod is empty, half full, full depending on weight BEFROE i get them out of the elastic band. and i also know that most pods are full, as emptys get left behind, and fulls get used fully even if 1/2 of the balls end up on the ground.

Basically, it is pointless to waste time loading a near empty mag. When a mag has a third or less left, should be discarded on reload.

if the zombie apocolypse comes i ain't sharing my ammo with you. :D

Usually. I'm picturing something like you're in the cap zone and the resupply is two objectives behind you, and a fresh wave of the enemy is closing in... you need your SMG to have a full(ish) magazine and you need it now! ;)

IRL throwing away empty or near-empty mags is one of the dumbest things you can do. Magazines don't grow on trees and are nearly always re-used, also in WWII. And that one round that's left in one of your magazines? It can save your life.

Imagine a team of soldiers going from A to B while engaging the enemy. As they move forward they drop their empty magazines on the ground. When they reach point B after 2km of travel and fighting they're running low on ammunition, so they call in an air drop. They open the crates and find a whole bunch of 5.56mm stripper clips, but no magazines. Oops. Here they have a crate full of ammunition but it's useless because they were foolish and dropped all of their empty magazines.

So no, RO's current magazine system is pretty much perfect already. The game prioritizes full magazines over (near-)empty magazines like every game is supposed to, but doesn't entirely discard the near-empty ones.

You know instead of throwing them away maybe you could drop them on the ground so other people close by could pick one up?

Imagine you just shot one or two bullets off and you are running up to help hold a position. Your rifleman buddy who has been there for a while is almost out of mags while you have a full set why not have the ability to drop a mag or two whether heavy or light so your buddy can help out more.

e.g. Push P to drop a Light mag
Push L to drop a Heavy mag

These are out of the way keys to avoid accidents and because dropping ammunition probably isn't a soldier's first thought in battle.

Just an idea I had while reading through might help team play in some cases but then again you don't often live long enough to use that many bullets also it might be a good idea to limit it to ordinary riflemen.
