Level Design Dimming down skydome backdrop?

Static mesh or not, the skybox should be an entirely seperate entity with the sky info property. You can change the ambient brightness of that zone all by itself, or tone down the light actor you have in it.

The only way you could mess yourself up is if you decided to use level properties to give your whole level an ambient brightness, otherwise you should be in complete control of how light\dark your skybox is.
