So I was playing KF one day and wondered why the enemies all had the same energy bars. That's when I decided to suggest that you guys make the zeds each have a different sized energy bar to represent the difference in health between each of them.

Crawlers, for example, have the lowest amount of health so they would subsequently be given the smallest-sized energy bars, totaling about half an inch in length. The clot would come after him in health total and so would have a slightly larger bar, and this pattern would continue all the way up to the Patriarch.

This really isn't needed, but I figured it'd be a nice option for those who would like to see it implemented as well.

I don't think it's very necessary. Of course, it would be handy when in the dark and it's even easier to identify one ZED from another, but the bars already differ in height, so why not use that method?

Still not a bad idea, though. I'm more of a "don't mind if it's added or not" member of the crowd.

Sounds like a good idea, and likewise I wouldn't mind if it wasn't added.

Staying with those health ideas, what about changing the color from green to yellow to red to represent how much a zed can take? It'd be easier for the commando to find the weakest zed to attack.

Maybe a % to the right of the bar?

I'm not sure if we already have those, but I don't play commando much.

I was thinking that (though, with more colors), but I figured that it wouldn't be very useful; there are only so many colors between yellow and red that are different enough to be useful. I was going to suggest colors instead because zeds such as the scrake and the fleshpound, though rarely seen in particularly large groups of themselves, would take over about half of the screen with the size of their bars. I was thinking that all zeds could have different colored health bars, and each color representing the amount of health a red bar represents times "X." The default red color would represent a set amount of health(I say, for now, "100 Hit points". Orange bars would mean that a zed had, in a sense, TWO red bars worth of health (200 HP). When that orange bar had depleted due to damage, that would be one red bar worth of health gone from the zed, leaving a red bar to represent the last half of their health. Yellow would represent three red bars worth of health, meaning that you would have to deal three red bars (300 HP) worth of damage to killt eh zed with the yellow bar of health and so on.

I would think this would work (based off the 100 HP red bar idea):

Crawler= 70 HP (about 3/4 of a red bar)

Stalker= 100 HP (one red bar)

Clot= 130 HP (one red bar and about a third of an orange bar)

Siren= 300 HP (a yellow bar)

Problems would arise when you get to specimens above the listed ones, such as the Bloat, Scrake, and Fleshpound, who both have heatlh more than 3 times as the specimen directly below them and subsequently have way more bars than the specimen below them. That would require many colors (unless the bars in-between can be represented with a single color), and there are only so many (distinctly different) colors that can be used and be useful.

*Health values were based off what their BODY values are in NORMAL mode, what I consider to be the "base values."

Why not just have the zed name, individual reference number, current status (attack animation, stunned, walking, etc.) and current attack target listed along with separate head and body health bars, with a little floating X where the head is?

Heck, add an option as commando to turn off character meshes entirely...

Sounds like a little too much information; how would knowing what animation the ZED is stuck in help? Either way, they have to die. And what would two bars for the head and body look like? If you have a group of zeds, it's going to be hard to see each of them. (In my opinion)

Doesn't make much sense. No one should care about the relative health from one specimen to another. What matters is the health of the individual specimen.

I guess it could work (and I think I might even like it), but it gives even more of an advantage to the commando where they don't necessarily need it.

I think it'd look nice, and make scrakes and FP's more menacing, with their huge life bars. Not to mention the Patty, it'd be sorta of like in top-down shooters, when the boss life bars stretches part the screen. Makes the boss seem that much more powerful.

An idea:

Have each specimen's health bar a different colour completely.

Red: Fleshpound
Orange: Scrake
Yellow: Husk

And so on, with each health bar a different colour specimens can be easily identified and dealt with.

The patriarch can have a bright pink health bar >:)

And another idea: Make this commando-only.

Do you really need this? The movement and height usually narrow it down for me. I don't know.....this could cause more trouble than it's worth.

The current system seems fine to me. I wouldn't mind a new one, but it doesn't really call out 'necessary'. Well, my perk isn't commando, so I guess it's out of place for me to say what's needed or not; however, when I lasted played commando, I felt that the system worked perfectly fine.

Well, if you can come up with a better system, then that's wonderful:)

This would be rather pointless, theyve taken over a year with a balance update which is the most important thing atm, so I doubt theyll even consider messing with healthbars especially when it only affects commandos.

But maybe a mutator?

I say give the patriarch a global health bar that can only be seen above your own screen but not on his head like the commando just to indicate how much health he got like those epic boss battle from House of the Dead 4.

That works for me too.

Some specimens have similar heights, such as the clot and the stalker and the siren, making it a little difficult to distinguish between them behind a cloud of whatever is blocking your view.

Fine, I'll accept a mutator (hopefully, a whitelisted one).

I wasn't just referring to the Patriarch...
