Well, I know everything's under wraps and most questions ending up as a long string of hopes and wishes. But I'm desperate to know if TWi are dumping the archaic static-mesh based vehicles in favour of real, destructible vehicles (example, Burnout Paradise City, GTA4)? The one thing that has always driven me insane is the whole, floating turret / turret-less tank torso system that magically transforms into a burnt static mesh once its energy bar is depleted. What are the chances of real damage models?

vehicles arent even oficially confirmed yet, so i doubt you will get an answer from TWI here

that aside i too would love a "real" destruction model

Ramm did mention vehicles on a target range. They specified if these would be tanks, but I think it's a pretty safe assumption if ROHOS has vehicles, at least some of them will be tanks.

I'm not sure if it would give you a clear answer, but check out how the vehicles in UT3 work.

They have destructible components and they behave a little less like RC cars.

very true Ricardo, this is the kind of thing that would just make my day, maybe taken to the next level; I've always wanted to see the flat protective side of a P4-H get all chewed up and bent out of proportion by a steady flow of T60 and PTRD shells.

With all this truly awseome, epic work that TWi are doing with infantry and group command physics, it would be such a shame if the (allbeit, still unconfirmed) tanks and HT's didn't have that same level of love and detail. Also I'm sure there would be tanks in ro2, I mean, how realistic would this 3 year campaign feel without any tanks? And as to playing the RO without tanks again (regresses back to the days he used to play the real old RO before Steam even existed), I'd feel like I had lost a limb :(

Yeah nice find Ricardo.
I'm 100% with u on that one. Adding such damage models would bring variety in damaged vehicules, and adding a realistical feel @ the way they break/explode. And tbh, this is lacking in actual RO tank battles :)

(Love the accent too! haha sounds like one of us Aussies! :p )

The narrator in that video is Aussie. He is known as "DOC" in the WW2OL community, he is one of the devs obiviously (don't remember his real name, was mentioned in YouTube video description).

An advanced damage model would be nice, and it would be nice to have some visual indications. But i dont think its easily possibly to really show every tankround hole in the armor or soemthing. I would be really happy if you could see if tank tracks would run off. And having disabled states without blowing up.

why should it be hard?
thats pretty much standard in most halfway realistic RTS games since some time

Have you got a vid of one of those rts games for me to watch as i dont play them.
Most rts games i know about are far from realistic in the tank combat and tank damage models.

The reason why i think its hard is because you need to play in multiplayer and you watch from a first persons perspective. To sync details like how a panel shreds and where it makes a hole etc is probably horrible for servers. Thats why generally in games even with terrain deformation its usually not there in multiplayer, and physics used are usually different on different computers like ragdoll physics.

It would be nice to have, but that would be more detailed than what most racing games have for damage.
