That's the thing smokey, it's NOT the same as SC2.Well sounds the same as starcraft 2 so I really don't have a problem with it. I only played D2 on battlenet as well, the game was really boring to play alone.
SC2 allowed you to play in offline mode after you created an account and successfully logged in once already. You didn't have to be connected to the internet to play the SP campaign after that initial login and account set up.
Diablo 3 requires you to be connected not only on installation, but every single second you play the game. If your internet connection drops off while you're playing singleplayer, the game will stop working completely, and according to the RPS article, you lose progress. It's like you're playing an MMO all the time, even in SP. In fact, in the beta version, you can't just leave a game in SP ... it asks you if you want to log your character out of the game world, and won't let you pause any of the action as if it's an online game. The whole point is it's NOT an MMO, so why should it treat you like it is!?
