Hi, can someone help me here and shed some light on my problem please. Getting a runtime error when i try and launch Darkest Hour.

This app has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way."
I've had the old version of DH installed and working for a long time. Stupidly i didn't delete the older version thinking it's just another update. When the new version had downloaded i noticed two DH games listed in my Steam games list. I uninstalled both, reinstalled DH twice now and still getting this error??
RO still works fine. running windows XP, 4 gig ram, radeon 4870.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
