If you don't spawn on SL, you spawn on the default spawns. If the SL spawn happens to be unavailable you spawn on the default spawns automatically. What's the hassle, pii smith?
Nah actually he said you must be near a playerstart, but thats just tech stuff. You can ignore that because like he said, playerstarts for squadleader spawning are everywhere.
It has nothing to do with whether or not you are in a capzone. The only checks are a) if someone on the other team is looking in your direction and b) there is a nearby playerstart (they're everywhere).
It's entirely possible that someone is almost always looking in your direction.
It's much appreciated that you write this in the forums, but since this thread was made in the first place there is obvously a need to let the people who don't necessarily read every single thread in the forum.
Will there be an official manual or at least a FAQ anywhere in the near future? Personally I think it's sorely needed.

I have tried this spawn mechanic out last night and I have to say it was working quite well. When I would stay hidden and out of sight, I had no problem with people spawning on me regularly. Now me sitting still was another issue![]()
Thats why I sneak and peek as a Squad leader. I do get to kill, scout, smoke etc, but most of the time I try to stay as inconspicuous as possible to get a maximum of spawnable time out of my rounds. Also the reason why I usually run around with a semi instead of an automatic.

As in 'enemy has a straight line of sight to SQL'. So the enemy is actually looking at you. That prevents a team mate from spawning on you because it is a clear indication that you are in a danger zone.
So if you want to be a good Squadleader to spawn on, you should:
-try to stay alive as long as possible and spend as little time possible waiting in the spawn cue. So for squadleaders playing sensible and defensive agressive is more key then to any other class.
-try to be well in cover most of the time, only popping out to peek or shoot, throw smoke, set artytargets for commander etc...
Squadleaders are not the rambo's of the squad, that role is for the assault class.
