Dev Diary 2 - The Gore system part 1 of 2 ... and first in-game footage

The trailer was mindblowing. I like how some games work with the layered Xray vision on damage. I wished the blood sprays and floating splats were a bit more specular and glossy so it has a better feeling of wetness to it.

Best example yet of Xray:
just look at that blood splat simulation :eek: = Sniper Elite 3

Not sure what to think of it, really. While quite enjoyable, the MEAT system will fall to the backseat in the heat of the action. It will be there, but largely unnoticed as big chunks of red flying around. However, I think it's a good idea that specimen can go into various animations when hit. Slows them down, makes it slightly harder to take them down because you have to do more precise aiming. Couldn't see that you are able to shoot off limbs, though - shoot off a leg, they are crawling towards the player. Seeing a Fleshpound this way... or a buzzing chainsaw going on a rampage by itself because someone shot it off the scrake... It would add another tactical layer to the game.

That needs to be a thing. On higher difficulties. One of those "additional abilities" the Zeds get on higher difficulties.

Whether a rampant, disembodied chainsaw winds up causing more damage to the Zed horde or to some hapless player is something else to be seen. ;)

After watching that trailer I can't wait to play it. I hope you guys are able to place it as Early Access on Steam so we can test it and give real play feed back. So far just indescribable of what you guys have done. A simplistic game over all but one of the best I have ever played. Thanks Guys!!! Keep up the Awesome Work!

Shame, killing another Zed with a head of another sounds terribly fun!

But in the long run, that would just be silly. But cool.

But... if a Scrake can have his Chainsaw (presumably they will keep that on him) removed by violent means, imagine kicking THAT at something, then having it stuck on their belly and slowly cut it's way down, splitting the lower half down.

I expect modders to do this ASAP. :3

Looks good! The ZED animations are 1000X better than KF1, which you'd hope for but it's nice to see. The gun animations also appear to be just as good if not better. I just hope the general pace of play doesn't change too much with the sprinting mechanic now in the game. Part of what gave KF1 its tenseness was how your character had very limited ability to run from ZEDs... you had to think carefully about where you were going to go ahead of time. Hopefully TWI keeps this vital gameplay element in mind with the extra player speed.

I have to say that I'm still not sold on the desaturated ZED time ... it just looks plain weird to me (and too graphic novelly), but I guess we'll see if that stays in the game or not. I think if there were a cool film filter over the entire scene that didn't treat the blood differently, I could get onboard. Maybe a super high contrast filter of some kind? I guess in the end I'll have to play it to see what I properly think.

Looking forward to part 2!

Jeez, that looks awesome!

I sold my gaming pc last year and switched over to a notebook because I stopped playing mostly. Now I know that I am gonna buy (and configure) a new pc this christmas. Can't wait for it.

I hope it's going to be released while I am in London so I don't have to buy the crap German version (which will be cut for sure, haha).
