Detrimental to host dedicated server and join it on same computer?

As the topic states, if one creates a dedicated server on their primary computer and then joins that server through the same computer will there be any detrimental side effects e.g higher ping?

I would like to know in advance of KF release.

What you described is how I've always hosted a killing floor server so I don't just kick everybody when I have to leave. I have never noticed any problems. A quick check joining my own dedicated server with the Killing Floor mod gives me a ping of 32.

For reference I have a 3.0GHz dual core.

The only detrimental effect that I've found is finding my own server full when I want to join.
