Desperately need another FlameThrower

Hmph - Id rather see something more unique.

Like for example the fuel on ground idea suggested before, basically you buy a jerrycan with eg 100 "fuel units", you poor it down to the ground and set it on fire with the flamer or with a lighter that comes along with the jerrycan. The fuel will then burn eg. 10 seconds causing damage on any specimen walking by it. Would be a great defensive weapon and thats what the game needs imo, more defensive weapons.

Another one, the famous flaregun. Loved that weapon in Time Splitters :)

And I think what also was suggested before, was a husk fireball weapon, to be used for long distances. Altho, I think that might not fit in with the current weapons very well.

There is an actor called BurningFuel which if shot at spawns a fire for the amount of time your set it, and you can also the burn threshold which is also useful. This could be used to make a new KF weapon.

There's only one type of flamethrower, so no, there can't be a new flamethrower weapon. But that doesn't mean that the firebug can't get a new type of weapon.

If support specialists get the LAW, why can't we get something else?

Agreed. The ideas for a defensive type weapon sound interesting. As well as having possibly something of a 3rd Tier level for the Firebug. Possibly a close range big blast of flames? Much how the firebugs nade already light up enemies but a more direct and aimable blast.

Either could work with big shots that have a radius or could similar to how the normal flamethrower works. A flare gun is also something interesting to look into. Possibly add something to it to make it a headshot capable weapon? Also add flame properties to it so his damage for each level could come into play and encourage its use.

I agree with the introduction of a flare gun, that would be a nice ranged projectile weapon.
Not sure about a flaming crossbow - but how about if you could inite a the tip of a team mate's crossbow bolt, setting any target he hits on fire and increasing the damage?

I agree there should be a new flamethrower though, that you would use in a slightly different way, for example it could do more damage if you attack a specimen from behind.
To distinguish it visually from the existing model, you could change the nozzel's appearance - phaps fashioning it into the shape of an animal's head, say like a crocodile.
Or a badger maybe.
You could give it a catchy name too like, i dunno, the 'arse-blazer' or something.

In order to ensure people are still tempted to use the current flamethrower, it could maybe get a alternate fire ability - how about a secondary air blast that costs a lot of ammo but can deflect a husk's rocket, or blow puke back into a bloat's face?

Yeeeaaaaahhhh... except its a total rip from TF2. Don't get me wrong, TF2 is a good game, and its a good idea for killing floor... but it is major steal. Much as I hate to say it, since all sorts of things would be useful in KF with it... it simply has to be a no if TWI just dont want to straight rip off TF2 :/

What do you mean? There are actually 2 types at least, liquid and gas based. The one in game is liquid, which explains the long range.

But yeah adding another flamer is still a bad idea.

yes, all guns shoot bullets, bt not all bullets are the same. a .50 cal gun is far different from a .357 magnum gun.

however, in game there wouldn't be any noticible difference between different fuels for the thrower

Incendiary ammo and weapons in addition to the already in game flamethrower.

Katana : flaming sword
Chainsaw: flaming blades
Knife: flaming knife

Crossbow: flaming bolts
Shotguns: flaming pellets

etc.

Make firebug get a small discount on all weapons and make him the jack of all fire.

well what people have been requesting is something of a short range, widespread flame projector or some sort of flare gun. not just another flamethrower.

As for flamethrowers, the one in KF now should be a gas flamethrower per physics. It only have one tank and liquid flamethrowers need two or more tanks (see OP's picture) where there's at least one tank holding the liquid fuel and at least one compressed gas tank to propell the fuel out. But as pointed out the projectile behaves like liquid.

Wouldn't mind a tier 3 backpack style liquid flamethrower though.

I liked the thermal lance...

I want a flamer with 1 tank that can hose out liquid death for like 5 minutes straight.

Just adding a weapon with the same stats but 10x the ammo would get my money as a t3 firebug weapon. I think the damage is pretty balanced, but the ammo shortage is craptastic.

hey, how about fireworks?

you fire a rocket at a specemin, it hits and ignites. there coud be a pushback for weaker specs, and a few seconds after fireing it explodes setting everything in a radiious on fire.
