id prefer an answer from dev's mostly to explain it a bit more..

someone said turning bloom on when disabling depth of field makes it look nomal like this

however, even that doesn't work, the game (for me at least) still looks like this with bloom on or off with Depth of Field off.

anything from dev's on this? id rather play with depth of field off as the game feels much smoother and framerates are more stable, but its pretty much impossible when it goes that dark... turning up brightness does nothing.

for those that can't notice the difference, the second one is alot more darker in most areas of the game, its pretty much impossible to see an enemy at distance.

Turn your post processing effect to normal.

Enhanced brings out the colors but also darkens the darks as well.

Adjusting gamma and contrast might help as well on your monitor.

PP is set to normal, and turning gamma up pretty much the compass pretty much impossible to use (as it goes pretty much white)

if gamma & contrast didn't affect the compass id have no problem using them, but im one of those people that like to use it, so i know if i hear footsteps that its a team mate or not.

this is what turning gamma up does to compass (even though it makes visibility good) id much prefer to be able to see compass to.

so devs, is there any way we can use gamma without it affecting the compass or menus?

I think the HDR effect and depth of field are now linked into together. It would be great if it could work separately and both could be switchable from video settings menu.
And yeah with turned off depth of field everything is much darker in the game.

Depth of field needs to be toned down a but. When observing other olayers after death they are a blurry mess.

I have the same problem with darker areas. Even the stairs at apartments next to a window are pitch-black.

Calibration of the monitor is fine and messing with settings doesn't help much.
Although setting the post-processing on low made it a little better for some weird reason...

Type "gamma 2.5" or "gamma 3.0" in the console. Problem solved, the world is shining again.

OP: your second screenshot looks way better imo. How is that overly dark? I use no depth of field, and my game looks like 2nd schreenshot, and it plays fine imo.

I'd say judging by the screenies that you have your lighting set on low. Bump that baby up to medium and it should fix all your problems. :D

you can keep depth of field enabled and just set its amount to 0.01 that means its pretty much off but the gamma and hdr functions will stay active.
