I only play it for the Survival, which is extremely fun.
And it's just been released.
An SDK for it would be great.
Running the KFed and trying to open most of the DA stuff usually results in an error. Since I have a backup of KF for modding stuff, I copied all the DA contents to the root of KF, and I can load up most of the maps and stuff, yet I still get a few packages (Might be because it checks for packages in KF/DA2/... and in KF/...)

What would be a pretty good idea would be to allow dead players (Players with no lives) to spawn again ONCE, every say .. 50 kills.

Yes and Ihave many new ideas to add to it and allow it to have much better gameplay including intro scenes and also fix bugs people have found but its up to twi. I ll have my net back soon.

I don't think adding new stuff is the best idea right now, have to get things such as specimen counter work online, there are a few other things aswell..

okay so here's my review after playing for a good 3 hours in DA2

It WILL be a totally BOMB game once you fix up some horribly non-ignorable problems.

1. THE LOUD ZED-TIME SOUND. It is so loud! I'm not the only one who was complaining about it either. It is easily 10x louder then all the other sounds in the game so I had to crank the volume way down because I would **** a brick everytime that sound played.

2. Is it just me or do turrets (especially the missile one) have the ability to kill you during specimen survival? We had one up on a hill base overlooking the rest of us but it couldn't shoot quite far enough to hit the zeds so it was hitting us and killing us! Or at least it was killing me. Dunno bout my teammates. It didn't count towards my deaths remaining though.

3. the voice chat is quiet to the point of uselessness. You can never hear anybody because there is 24/7 action, explosions and gunfire.

4. When you have your pistol in ironsights, you can't change weapons. I got killed from this many times.

5. Some textures on certain parts of the maps (i.e: the railings on some maps) had cement or asphalt textures that were the same as the ground. This wasn't the only spot that could've used better and more realistic textures but that's the one I remember. It detracted from the immersion a bit.

6. Ammo boxes need some revamping. Firstly they can only refill one person at a time, which causes people to cluster around them and ending them all up blown to smithereens simultaneously. They should be able to fill up multiple people. Also they only fill up ONE of your weapons. Meaning you have to spend even more time there to get all of your weapons refilled. It's annoying.

7. medics have emp grenades. I found this odd since it seemed like the mechanics should have the emp grenades. They after all are the turret people. If not them then give the rocketeers the emp instead because they are the most adept at taking out turrets. Why can't medics have mines? I feel the mines and emp's should be switched.

8. Nearly EVERYTHING makes your screen flicker. It's a good effect but it's triggered by the slightest breeze! Explosions I can understand but light bullet damage or light splash damage from nearby FRIENDLY TURRET FIRE should not do that. Also tone it down a bit. When you're getting shot at up close you practically go blind.

9. This may get a bad reaction but I really think players need more health. They just die far too easily for this style of gameplay. It would work if you could jump 4 times and could run at the speed of sound like in any other chaotic fps but it isn't like that, it's a team based strategy mayhem shooter. You need to not be instantly raped as soon as you try to run ahead into enemy ground. A gunner can take me out within a second of seeing me and firing at me.

10. Is friendly fire on by default/permanently? I had a friendly rocketeer shooting me and injuring me. but I wasn't able to injure people with my guns. Dunno what that was about.

11. Medics shouldn't have to look at somebody to see their health. There should be a bar above their heads if you get close enough to them or something, but only if you're a medic since it doesn't matter to any other class. Same thing for turrets, give them bars above them and don't make us have to look at the turret in order to see it's health.

12. Sometimes the pistol idle animation plays right after I switch to pistol and immediately look down my ironsights. It takes away my ability to aim and it also takes up most of the center of the screen.

13. The whacking animation for the pistol looks more like something you would do if you want to pistol whip a midget standing in front of you. Make it look like it would do damage to somebody if you hit them that way with a gun. Right now it almost aims your swing at the ground.

14. ...are there mortars falling out of the sky?? I was playing specimen survival and I couldn't figure out how I kept dying from mortars so I backed out of the action and looked around. THERE WERE MORTARS FALLING FROM NOWHERE OUT OF THE SKY. um, if this is a feature, it's a really damn annoying one lol.

15. The patriarch attacks turrets. This should be removed. Every second a patty attacks a turret is an opportunity that it won't be going after players and it lets people swarm around him and shoot him up to their hearts content. Also he doesn't even seem to kill turrets that fast since he doesn't use his rockets or gun against them when up close.

16. Specimens are WAY too easy to decapitate (i sometimes got 2 or more decaps in one round) and I think they have too much health. Though with the turrets I'm sure that would make the game too easy.

17. The ZED time length is so short it's hardly noticeable. That amount of time works great for KF but not for this game as it is much more fast paced.

Those are the things I've noticed so far, besides that this game is BOMB. I can't WAIT to see what you guys do with it.

Dest I mean fixing bugs and adding alittle add ons. all the above i can fix with good sweep and it wont take me long.

I beg of you, the first thing you fix will be the spawns.
Add the option to spawn at your squad or at the set points, kind of like in Ut2004 onslaught.
I CONSTANTLY find my self spawning on top of the zeds.

It's very frustrating to spawn in a cluster of Gorefasts and insta-die. That and getting stuck would quickly empty a server...

Here's some more bugs or gameplay flaws I found.

18. This game takes a BEAST of a machine to run on full graphics currently. I have to run it on nearly half the quality settings that I run KF on.

19. The walking animation looks more like you're lunging around. I'd prefer if it actually looked like running. Right now it doesn't even look like running or walking.

20. You can't see the name of the player you are spectating.

21. You can grab ammo from ammo boxes even if you have full ammo.

22. Disable player clipping on ladders. (make people go through each other while climbing ladders for all you who dont know what clipping is) This is a potentially huge griefing problem since you can climb a ladder and then sit there, rendering other people completely unable to use the ladder since they can't get past the player.

23. There are a lot of railings you can't jump over and get across. This makes you unable to leap out of certain towers if it gets too crowded with players. aka you get trapped in a prison of players. Maybe increase the jumping height?

24. When you have fps lag, it seems to make stuff like npc's and players spin in circles while you're lagging. It isn't caused by network lag. I verified that. It was just happening before I turned down my graphics settings.

On the other hand it is a pretty good release coding wise, pretty stable and almost everything is working as intended. All it needs now are gameplay tweaks which will hopefully easier and quicker with Steams auto patching :p

This is a bug related to bots logic.
When you play with bot, half of the bot team will spawn with you and the other half will spawn as an attacker (On survival)

As attacker bots, they will try to reach the objective until they die or they receive orders.

To give orders you can use the voice command menu (X by default) then select 4 for orders.

I like to use search and destroy, seems to work great. If you see the bots going too far away from the battlefield, just do a "Cover me" on all bots, this will bring them all to you, stopping all their activities (Useful if one of them is constantly trying to build a turret)

Then just put them back in Search and Destroy or Defend, or Attack.

Also, its very useful to make a medic bot follow you by using the "Cover me" on him. You can also get your little squad to follow you around.

Please remember that Da2 has a forum here and that it would be more useful for the Da2 team if you could send the information there.

My only criticism of the game is the crosshairs. I'd much prefer a hipshot/iron-sights gun system, but I guess that'd be hard to program, or something.

If it was like the Insurgency mod for the Source engine, minus all the bugs, I'd be a happy camper. Otherwise it's a fun game! Quite laggy, but fun! Good work Dest.

It is VERY laggy fps wise.

I only play KFsurvival, and the lag kicks in when the zeds come. AND when all the turrets (over 9000) start shooting.
On top of that, the effects look amazing, maybe too amazing to handle.
My guess is all the effects are causing a lot of graphical lag.

Right now, simply getting rid of the UNGODLY LOUD zed-time sound will make it playable for me.

Until a patch, is there any workaround to get it to not play? I fear for the health of my speakers and eardrums...

I'm sorry, currently there is no work-around, except disabling zed-time. It's one of the things that will be fixed in the patch.

How soon do you think the patch might be coming out? With a few issues fixed, I think the game would be an absolute blast.

Also, I bet it's intended, but we have issues with the AVER turret TKing the crap out of everyone. None of the other turrets do it, not even the Crusher, but the AVER kills everyone who dares cross it's path!

And another suggestion or two:

1) Letting the medic see everyone's health, a-la Killing Floor Style health bars would be incredibly useful.
2) Maybe add some sort of warning when you're in a turret and it's low on health. Like a beeping or a red effect on the screen. Currently, you can't really tell the difference between a healthy and a 2 HP turret.
3) On that note...maybe instead of have the health gauge when you're in a turret be a % (IE: Starts at 100 and goes down), show the actual turret HP (1200, 800, ect and go down). The 100% scale made me thing that my trooper was taking the damage when I was in a turret (Until I realized you can't see him)
4) On the Rocketeer alt-fire, a full-screen "Rocket cam" for the guided rockets would be nice. Probably intended, but it's hard to guide 'em on that little screen. Currently, if I have to steer one strongly in one direction (Aiming one almost straight down), I find myself staring at the ground afterwards. Kinda frustrating. Plus the full-screen cam would have the nice secondary effect of giving 'em the "Down the scope blind" effect that snipers get while aiming.
Even just raising the launcher so that the screen is full size and is in the center of the view would help a lot.
5) Finding some way to seperate the Specimen Survival servers and the traditional servers on the Server Browser would be awesome. Unless the server name says something, it's currently impossible to tell.

Not trying to be naggy or anything, but the more I play, the more I see little things that, IMO, could improve the experience. Hope it helps.
