After the announcement of Defence Alliance 2.5 for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 less then two months ago, we already have to put this project on hold due not enough team members.
Even after spamming forums and mirc, we haven't got any new serious members.
Unfortunatly when the time comes we do have enough members, we will ofcourse continue DA2.5. Meanwhile we will try to continue developing DA2 for both games.

I will now also post more details about Defence Alliance 2.5 to perhaps get the interest of serveral artists to join.


So the main deal is to build up your own base, including barracks, vehiclefactories, etc. And destroy the enemy base. This all in 1st person.

Inventory:

The player can select which weapon, nades and armor they'd like to spawn with at the command center. A better armor or weapon would take more space in the inventory. Certain Weapons are only available when the barrack is build. There are also special weapons that can be selected, but they take alot of space and could be limited, for example a radio to call an artillary, an wrench tool to place buildings, etc.

Buildings:

Buildings are being placed in (low detail) wireframe. After placing it at the correct position, a dropship will fly in a 'cube' building, which opens up with an animation. Most buildings can only be build near a command center.

-Command Center:
Here is where players spawn, this building is already placed at the begin of the match (perhaps more can be placed?). When all of those buildings are destroyed, the game ends. It is only possible to destroy this building, if the team has only this building standing.
-Power Supply Building:
Every game starts with an certain amount of power, if exeeded by building more buildings, there are (more) Power Supply Buildings needed to add more power.
-Barrack:
When the barrack is build, Certain weapons and armor will be availabe.
-Vehicle Factory:
Here is where the players can buy vehicles, such as tanks, apc's and buggy's.
The Vehicle-Factory will be more of a Vehicle-Assembly. Once deployed this relatively small, garage-like building actually wont build new vehicles from scratch, but assemble the parts.
Inside the vehicle gets assembled and when finished, the Assembly opens. If the front of the Assembly is clear, the vehicle will drive out automatically and park there. If the fron is not clear, the vehicle will stay inside of the opened garage. As long as the Assembly is not empty it wont close again and cant accept new containers to build.
-Air Base:
Here is where the player can produce aircrafts, like gunships, bombers and dropships. This building is required to build Radar's, Turret's and Artillary.
The Air Base should look like some factory like building with an helipad.
-Gas Distiller:
This building is placed in the map to get resources.
-Missle Silo:
This building is required to call in the missle strikes against enemy buildings. A missle strike is like a super weapon, there for it costs alot to launch, and isn't available all the time. (only available when Air Supply Center is build)
-Radar:
The radar can be build somewhere in the battlefield, this building can reveal the enemy position on the radar. This building is dropped in the battlefield by a large dropship. (only available when Air Supply Center is build)
-Turrets:
Turrets are there in AntiVehicle, AntiAir, and AntiPerson. Turrets are dropped in the battlefield by a large dropship. (only available when Air Supply Center is build)
-Artillery:
This building is required to call in artillary, Artillery is dropped in the battlefield by a large dropship (only available when Air Supply Center is build)
-Mobile Spawn Point:
mobile spawn point can be placed anywhere in the map, this small building will be deployed by a dropship. When it's deployed, the players can spawn at this location by selecting that spawn point on the map. (only 1 or 2 available at the same time) (only available when Air Supply Center is build)
-Air Supply Center:
The Air Supply Center will handle most air traffic. This building is required for deployments such as turrets and other goods. The ASC should be a building with an air control tower, and some big radar(s).

Vehicles:

-Large Tank
Which is mainly used against armored vehicles. Weakness is infantry and AT turrets, altought its very strong but slow. (only available when Vehicle Factory is build)
-Anti Infantry Tank
This tank has an autocannon and is good against infantry. (only available when Vehicle Factory is build)
-APC
This vehicle is not armed and has a good armor and is fairly fast, it can transport 4 or 5 players. (only available when Vehicle Factory is build)
-Jeep/Buggy
This is a scout vehicle, it has very low armor but is very fast. (only available when Vehicle Factory is build)

Aircrafts:

-Large Dropship
This aircraft is AI controlled, and is used to drop radars, turrets, ammoboxes, artillary guns, etc. This aircraft is a drone and doesn't have a cockpit, instead it has camera's on the front. (see concept art)
-Gun Ship
This aircraft is armed with auto cannon(s), Light armor and pretty fast (only available when AirBase is build)
-Bomber
This aircraft is armed with bombs, and has pretty good armor, but is slow. AOE damage is very effective against buildings and big groups of enemy units. (only available when AirBase is build)
-Dropship
This aircraft can pickup players and drop them behind enemy lines. This aircraft is not armed with weaponary but instead it has good armor. (only available when AirBase is build)

It is a very grand design and I hope you can get the support you need. You might also want to kick around the other unreal community mod sites. And if you have any plans to continue into UE 3 you might want to mention that as you might gather more support from those looking towards the next gen.

I do think the design document is alittle bit grand. thinking how long its taking very modest mods to come out I don't think This idea would come how within the lifespan of the RO modding community.

I currently have my kursk map and another project to finish before I can help you. Plus my gf keeps begging me to do some stupid swat mod. argh.

Your right, thats why I have been thinking of canceling DA2.5. And use certain concepts in the next version(s) of DA2.

We will continue Defence Alliance 2 for UT2004 and RO, Beta 1.6 due to release september 2006!

Well Campagna Italia and Burning Sands drew in a lot of people from the rather small Community, i guess both have about 20 people on the boards. Dunno if this is much or not, but it ain't a Game with one Million sold Copies, yet. Though i guess realistically it will take a while if it ever reaches that Mark.
