Dedicated server up, killing floor down

I have a bit of a problem..

I set up the killing floor server and as far as i can see it works, people are joining and my friends can join too, but when i try launching killing floor I don't get past the Tripwire logo screen, It's black.

Is there some command i can use to fix this or did i do something wrong with the server?

If you set it up on your own computer, has to be a Listen Server, if you put Dedicated, I'm not sure it'll let you play.

You can run a dedicated and still run the game and connect.

You have to run them as two different parts. Steam only classes them as one so when you have a server dedicated running, steam thinks you're playing not allowing you to open up KF yourself. Way round this is to have the server on a seperate machine or something or rent?
