Ok that ruffled feathers? Sorry. I still do not get it. :eek::D I take things like that as just venting over personal bias one way or the other. Taking personally I really do not think was intended. And you can ONLY get pissed off like that if you LIKE your personal fav thing and it is no longer really viable. Ya ok that last sentence is BY bias. :confused:

This is great news. IMO. I HOPE at least 2fg starts this. But I also think its great that servers out there will have both options. :D

yes there is to some degree. I come back from a long deployment only to see my favorite gamemode is all but non-existant now; so yes, i'm somewhat annoyed
I know that feeling and it sucks. Changes will be made to Classic but it is too late I believe. I saw Classic die in front of my eyes and now I am stuck with the ugly sister Realism with lots of make up but little else.

Without spawn on SL on some servers the ugly sister should become fun again though. I never expect it to reach the level of Classic gameplay but at least it should provide some enjoyment for a couple of rounds.

I'll adapt just fine, but without spawn on SL, the role's importance to the team will be a fraction of what it is now. Basically it removes the most important feature of the entire team, and every SL will have to play the Rambo role again to be of any good to the team at all.

I guess the Classic holdouts win this one. We'll see how many servers choose this though. Back to 2010.

I guess the Classic holdouts win this one. We'll see how many servers choose this though. Back to 2010.

You can be sure at least about one - 40-1 clan server #2.

For once it will be optional and maybe SLs become less important but then again look how it plays with spawn on SL, as you say the most important contribution is just to be a mobile spawn point. Now they can finally lead the attack.

I agree with the idea of more options, as a general rule that is a good thing. I just understood that it was there already, although it unranked the server. I don't see a big problem with that, but I confess I don't bother looking at unranked servers unless I'm pointed there for some reason.

Personally I don't have a problem with how it plays with spawn on SL. I like it actually. It gives the class more importance to the team effort and more effect on the outcome of the match. I also think I do a better job leading the attack when I can choose where my squad spawns. Better than if I charged in by myself I mean. Which is STILL how I play SL when I have a small squad. But it takes away the way I like to lead when I have a large squad, which is to choose spawn location thus dictating which capzone my men go for.

Without spawn on SL, squads are sort of irrelevant - unless everyone really really wants to follow orders AND leaders have mics. Otherwise people will just do whatever occurs to them, regardless of their squad, which was the way things used to be, and which as a SL I found somewhat less meaningful.

Nah, the most important roles of a SL are Smoke and Extra Cap Force ;)

Several times I felt I made a difference as a squad leader: marking arty, fighting into a good advanced position, waiting for the next one or two spawn waves to assemble around me, throwing smoke and then advancing with them into the cap zone. In RO1 I never even once had the feeling that someone was in "my" squad and we capped together as a squad. I was just some random player who happened to have a smoke grenade and more capping power, but squad cohesion - zero.

'Spawn on SL' is definitely a very useful tactical element. That's why I accepted it even if I do not particularly like the beaming part. But those who simply dismiss it as 'stupid' or 'boring' appear to have played it completely wrong. It is not about staying in a safe place all the time and doing nothing else.

Nevertheless I welcome the option of having servers ranked with both 'spawn on SL' on and off, and I certainly will play both options.

Granted, spawning on your squad leader does have its tactical merits but I really wish there was some way you could avoid spawning in front of enemies.

It might just be me, but I've seen it happen way too many times.
