"realism" mode is a joke anyway, should be done away with totally.
to call it realism is laughable.

Why not classic mode is a joke too ? Don't ask realism player. Just ask to a classic player !

Classic players are MORE angry against classic mode than realism players. (Maybe there are more classic players who think classic is a fail than classic players who think the opposite.)

Pdog, you said "realism" mode is a joke, BUT classic is laughable too...(and maybe MORE than realism mode is).

Not all classic fans are like that, but sometimes it's like you said...

What classic players love ? Even the classic mode itself, they hate it... Again : Just ask to a classic player.

I'm just saying that in the eyes of a lot of RO1 players, it was the case. We sometimes forget how much of the old player base just plain left.

Yes. Think of how many of those players that bought the game and recommended it to others to pre-purchase the game, or bought KF or one of the other smaller games released by TWI just to help support them.

Now imagine if TWI made the Realism gameplay a little more like Classic is now, and skipped progression and all of that stuff. I'm sure it would have sold equally as well especially on release and newer players couldn't really complain about things such as lack of progression and similar stuff because it was never in the game to begin with, and it wasn't in the previous game ROOST either! Old player retention would probably have been even better, and player numbers could possibly be higher these days.

Ahhh, what could really have been :D

"Classic players" don't "hate" Classic or even think it's "a joke", the general consensus is that it could be improved.

There's much more animosity towards Realism, and even then I don't think anyone hates it. It is a joke, though.

Be sure real classic players doesn't love classic mode.

Realism is a "joke" who works.
Classic is a "joke" who doesn't works. A joke of another kind...but a joke.

Well, it would be odd if it didn't, right? :D

It would be nice to see those Classic changes Yoshiro was hinting about, but lets be honest, at this point it will not bring massive amounts of players to the game or anything like that. It will make a portion of players slightly happier than they currently are with Classic and maybe pull a few Realism players in once in awhile. That is good for those players and makes TWI look good for caring about a portion of their community.

At best, it might bring a few players back and make the base Classic mode be more palatable for many players (no super slow sprint etc).

But, now that that has been said, what else can we do but talk about my mode being better than someone else's mode :p

Yeah this thread is pretty pointless right about now.

I agree. The amount of Realism players feeling inferior and hence bashing any Classic thread is frightening. So the forums do reflect what happens in-game now judging from the behavior.

Yet another self identified Classic player who misses the point entirely. You do realize that every thread about Classic mode essentially boils down to a circle jerk about how much better it is than realism ... so really who's feeling a little inferior here, people trying to enjoy their game mode or people who barely even play their supposed "only true RO" game mode and constantly needing assure themselves that they're better than everyone else. I'd like you to point out any thread that says anything along the lines of "Realism is the only true RO, Classic players are a determent to the game", but guess what you won't find any. You know why? because the vast majority of players (most Realism players included) don't care if there's someone else out there that likes a different play style , they play their mode and we play ours. But people like you feel the need to attack and belittle others and even attack TWI from time to time to have some false vindication about being just that much better than everyone else because of your "tastes"

Also, frightening amount right? Like the 3 or so players that actually spoke out against the bs people like you have been spewing the entire time? How about the 100s that voted remove all game modes except Classic , because '**** everyone else, Classic or nothing" that just didn't happen right?

Seriously if you're going to be snide and self-righteous make sure you actually understand the situation first.

P.S I played Classic from its beta up to when all the US/UK Classic servers basically died within the last month or so. And guess what was a significant contribution to that death, the few Classic players with your attitude

I am a Classic player
and do you want to know, why i dont like, what is happening with RO2 and Gaming in general?!

its this **** called "lets make games easy" and "let's lower the complexity threshold" thing, that is killing my games:(

i lost so many games: CoD with MW,then Battlefield with BF3,Hitman with absolution,...once great medal of honor is also fubar...

and i almost lost Red Orchestra to this beast:(,so its not funny any more, when you losing all your games.

and some will say:go and play something else!
and play what?...there is nothing out there for me like Red Orchestra...it is,was,i don't know:confused::(...a unique gaming experience.

and a similar story that is happening here, with this Realism vs.Classic.
happened to the Battlefield franchise and its community with BF3:

Realism isn't "easier" by any means.

It is a little faster paced. Just because you move a little slower in classic and your gun sways around a little more does not make the mode "more complex" or "harder" by any means.

Infact, for the majority of players (who are below lvl 50), Realism is harder because it is not a level playing field (progression system).

So...please stop saying that Classic is "harder" or "more complex" if the only argument you are using to back that assertion up with is "oh but players move slower....."

The only thing that can be said about classic is that it is more slower paced and slightly easier for new players due to the level playing field. Thats it.

Positioning is more important. If you get caught while sprinting, you are dead. In Realism, this is not the case. The blazingly fast time to bring up your weapon to iron sight after sprinting puts you at a near even battle against somebody who was set up and in a better position than you.

Stance plays a much larger role. The sway is more increased when you have no stamina. Again, this is barely the case in Realism. After sprinting, bring up your iron sights in a standing position and you'll be able to shoot 100m easily, especially with the zoom as well. Classic doesn't allow that, you gotta watch your stamina cause your gun will be moving around like crazy. In Classic, you can remedy this though, by changing your stance, or resting your weapon. Realism you don't need to think about anything. Just shoot as you wish, sprint as you wish and you don't need to worry about being at a tactical disadvantage.

Don't even get me started on spawn on SL...

Lastly, your point about the progression system. Doesn't that make it easier for players who are higher level then because they have much better stats? The progression doesn't make it harder than Classic, just unfair for newer players.

I like both modes. But I prefer Realism over Classic because I am too lazy to run all the way back to the battle when I die lol. If there was "spawn on SL" feature in the Classic mode then it would be a no brainer for me. If TWI add some transport then I will play Classic mode 90% of the time.

I remenber how many time i have been killed during sprint IN REALISM !! Viet, do you know we can die too in realism during a sprint ? Even if you are bandaging, the guy shoot you with the second shoot. Quick speed or slow speed don't change nothing to your death during a sprint. So Vietviking : Positioning is less important in realism, really ?? Here, You are wrong. Positioning works in realism, don’t forget it, or reduce it to nothing.

Stop your joke, dude... Do you think stance doesn’t count in realism?? After sprint, you need to wait for have stamina too.
Classic use the same system of weapon than in realism. Aiming is more slow, running is more slow,…Classic is a slow RO 2. In classic, players are slow to shoot and slow to move. Classic is for camper player. In realism you can have quick action ! Stamina in classic is a joke. One joke more.

Don't even get me started on spawn on SL...
In realism, you need to watch each time your respawn point ! MORE THAN CLASSIC ! Each second you can respawn on Squad leader ! Respawn on Squad leader in realism mode bring us chaos of war ! NO ONE CHAOS OF WAR in classic…Vietviking, Spawn on SL simulate CHAOS OF WAR. It’s one of reasons why Realism is so fun (and realist). It's make Realism the closer mode to a real simulation of war. We can also see that "Chaos of war" in FPs is equal to Fog of war in RTS.

So now its not about making it realistic, but making it "harder" or more "complex" ?

And also I'd like know what BF3 introduced that BF2 didn't already have

the unrealistic weapon handling? That was there in BF2

the progression and unlocks? that was there in BF2

unrealistic class selection? (i.e unlimited number of any class) that was there in BF2

the unrealistic vehicle play? (1 manning tanks, apcs and helis) that was there in BF2

the unrealistic medic chain healing? already there with BF2

The only thing they did with BF3 is change the asethetics and the "medals" and "ribbons" to try and resemble MW.

And by the way when MW1 was first released it was actually a fairly innovative title and brought a fresh take on FPS. Where it went wrong was that it was far too sucessful, and as a result every sequel inevitably had to be basically the same thing but re-skinned. Think about it, if no sequel to MW was ever released beyond WaW there would be no where near as much hate for the series as there is now, and it would also be touted as a "unique gaming experience"
