I got fps improvements too, after this patch. Not in max fps, but, like other players already said, in the consistency between min and max fps (especially under artillery fire!).

Also, the improvements are more evidently in larger maps like red october and comissar's house, where I got my min fps always above 30fps now (especially in those areas where there's a lot of smoke effects).
My config, for comparative purposes:
Phenom II X4 3.4Ghz
4GB DDR3 1600Mhz Cl8
GTX 560Ti 1GB
AOC monitor 17"
HD 500GB + 160GB Sata II 7200RPM

The graphics are all on ultra, except for the shadows (which are on high) and the AA (which is on FXAA).

Anyway, thanks Tripware! The game is stable, and the "hitch-kills" rarely happens now. Keep going, you're proving that you care for the problems that the community report. :)

If you follow the excellent ( idiot proof - no offence intended ) guides at www.blackviper.com you will improve your performance and might even learn something at the same time ;)

Blackviper's service tweaks are hardly idiot proof and can cause obscure problems if you don't know what you're doing. Its a nice reference if you already are familiar with system tweaking or are interested in learning how to. If you have adequate ram (4GB + x64) trimming couple of hundreds of megs is not going to make huge difference. You CAN find assorted crap in services installed by various apps but again indiscriminately disabling stuff will cause issues. Reading dialog boxes when installing stuff like gameboost and saying "no" every time when asked if you want helpful toolbars and stuff will definitely help.

Earth.
Yeah. Great. Small updates are better than none. Now I'm still hoping for a patch that will actually remove the music when I tell the game to.

are you talking about sound loss when u use ingame chat and your RO volume "decrease" but dont come back up?

at least thats what I have, puts my RO and TS3 volume to about 10% in the volume mixer as soon as i press "Z" to chat ingame, doesn't come back until i alt+Tab and bring the volumes to 100% manually.

its a ***** wen i forget not to use ingame chat.

This sounds like it could just be the windows communication setting is set to lower all non-voip sounds by 80% (which I believe is default)when voice communication is detected . I only discovered this when using RO2; for some reason RO2 is the only software including TS and other games with voice chat that windows had yet detected as voice comm. Anyways, try going to control panel/sound/communication tab, uncheck "reduce the volume of all other sounds by 80%" and check the "do nothing" option. click ok/apply and it should stop doing that (if I'm right that that's your problem).

I was already getting pretty good performance but I'm glad to see that so many other people are now seeing improvements. Hopefully more people that had shelved RO2 will now make a return. I see that a few other people are having server browser issues too...mine populates fairly quickly but for some reason it doesn't show all of the available Aussie servers, I end up using the Steam server browser now most of the time. No biggie, just a bit strange.
Anyways, grats on making some headway on such a major issue TWI, and thanks for your continued efforts. RO2 is getting better and better and better. The games I had tonight were terrific with some really immersive, heart-pumping moments. That's exactly why I play this game!

@ Tripwire Developers,

Will we see any work done, or progress made on these issues in the next patch?:
- Ping Issues (Especial in 64 player servers)
- Latency Compensation
- Bullet Registration (Maybe try Client Side Hit Detection Methods?)

Thread Reference: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?p=986151#post986151

Thank you for everything so far TWI,
plex

Plex....do you really expect an answer?
(100 posts...you should know that there is an excellent public relations department)

Perhaps there will be a patch with really relevant content/fixes within the next year(s) especially after they finally abandon making big content updates for Killing Floor. :D

The needed time and the announced promises ("big content") for the "8th patch " and then comparing the results ......well..........
i woke up and smelled the coffee after hearing about the KF update which was coming up same time. :p

Client side hit detection methods will introduce a lot of cheats. It makes it to easy for hackers to make miss-usage of the hit detection. I really hope they will never implement a thing like this.

You're running multiple GPUs, right?

Press left-alt and enter together to change from full-screen and then repeat to go back to full-screen.

I had this issue a number of patches ago before ATI released the more recent versions of Catalyst.

Let us know if it works.

If not, you might have to switch AA off on your card and rely on in-game AA instead for now.

Wow! your all fools.. I cant even begin to think of all the ways your so wrong in thinking there's less hackers with client side hit detection!!!!

Client side hit detection wouldn't introduce anymore cheats than are already available... so what if it makes it easier for cheaters to cheat with different methods.. Thats what PB and VAC are for.. plus Admins should watch their servers and ban the hackers in the first place.. that's their job ITS EASY to spot hackers... (for me, at least)

LISTEN FOOLS:
The benefits outweigh the risks!

I would rather have excellent Hit Registration and Latency Compensation so my bullets hit where they are supposed to and registered with great accuracy!! even if that gave hackers other methods to hack the game.. SO WHAT!? there is ALWAYS going to be hacker ANYWAYS! NO MATTER WHAT!.. SO why not make the game as good as possible for people who don't hack?

These changes would benefit the MAJORITY of the people..

Why do i even try reasoning with such fools..

i must stop.. as they say,
"Arguing with fools only makes you a fool yourself"

I'm not going to play this game until i see these changes made to benefit the masses..

Besides these shills and fools on this forum, 90% of the people i talk to who bought this game at launch agree with me 100%!

Listen Tripwire.. That's all i ask

plex

PS: DON'T let hackers wreck a good gaming experience and force you to live with poor game mechanics..
If you do this, the hackers have won. Sadly

You don't back up your opinions with any educated explanation or thoughts...
Only fools would listen to you.

Explain why Latency Compesation is bad?

I want to debate this right now..

Counter Strike has it
COD4 MW has it
BFBC2 has it
BF3 has it

ALL popular Modern games have it! This is because its better than NOT having it..

I'm sick of you people coming on here and spewing nonsense like you think you know whats best.

Lets have an educated discussion instead of an uneducated response like "FFS NO WAY"

that just makes you sound like a fool and an idiot.

Elaborate a little bit please, perhaps explain to me a better way to fix the issues with the game? Please, open my mind to other possibilities...

Sick of these 12 year olds who don't know how a good game should run so they just post their bullcrap opinions without any constructive comments or elaboration..

God help us all,
plex
