Dear Tripwire team!

Please replace this file with the original file, in your next patch release. So "beginner" difficulty is set to default, instead of "any difficulty" so that we who are playing Hell on Earth, won't get bugged that much by newbies!

Sincerely ~ annoyed player

the file is going to be in the killingfloor/system. and it is originally a .ini file :p

I had some idea about this problem but idk if its going to work. Lets call the class you choose in the profile/achievements screen the "default" class. So when you join in the server you are set to this class right? The idea is - if your default class is not 5lvl or above, you cant enter in suicidal/HoE servers. You are not restricted to this class tho, its like a pass to the server, when you join you can choose whatever class you want. But idk if this can be implemented

server restriction can surely be implemented but i would kinda get mad if i couldnt join some server for some reason. so then it would be needed to change filters and bunch of others stuff. in other words it is alot of work. and as a new player to the game I think I would rather go and play custom servers if bunch of ****ty filters where in the game. but anyways, just changing a 1 line in 1 file and add it to the game. isnt that much work. well I allready did it. but im sadly no official dude so i cant do a thing!

except what i just did in the thread above :D

I hope the new players are not so dumb to join in suicidal/HoE directly after buying the game, thinking they will level faster. So this filter is for the dumb new players. This is very team oriented game, and I cant help my team I better go off of the server. But many new players dont even think about their team.

The new Players arent the only ones that dont care about their team. Even many other Players that join a Game on higher difficulty never watch which Perk is needed when they join. They arent interested how the teammates are doing. All they want to do is level there Perks and ask for money. Thats really a sad thing. And there is another kind of idiots that join the game at wave9, 10 or later to hopefuly get the achievment without doing anything. I dont know if iam just unlucky in the last time, but its really hard to find some good and fair players. Its unbeliveable how 1 dumb Person can ruin a whole Game. But never mind! Keep on Killing!!!

What ?

If they get everything explained and still join suicidal/HoE, ok you can call them dumb. But before they level up and/or learn about the perk system outside of the game, how would they know ?

Yeah one thing is "idiots" who have played the game a bit before and just randomly joins a Super hard server. but he still not have the balls to show for it. (restriction is only option)

another thing is that. 1 person joins hoe and he says "how do i drop weapons?" or "why do I die so fast?" or "how do i heal?" those are the one that is the most annoying. but these we can get rid of only by changing the filters :)

When they see in the profile screen that they are lvl 0-1, it must come up to their mind that its not good to enter in suicidal. Its called suicidal for a reason after all.

The problem stems from people thinking "I'm fairly good a shooters, I can play [insert a popular shooter] well. I'll just jump into hard/suicidal. Just how bad could it be?"

It's either that or they just don't understand the server filter options, new games again, rarely a server browser, just match making.

BlackOps is a stellar example of how games hold the players hand now.

It's been suggested that a simple pop up might help. *shrugs* but I can't see it being fixed anytime soon.

yea, but these new players probably don't understand what the icons on the left mean, so they don't know what the difficulty is, they just go in the server browser, pick a server and join, without realizing that they are entering a suicidal/HoE game.

knee deep in pussy.
All you have to do is kick them or ask them to leave. Low levels usually ragequit fairly quickly anyway; it's really not that much of a bother. I have more problems with incompetent level 6 players on HoE.

The new players are that dumb, mate. Then when you explain why they are sucking hard they say they can play how they want, or not to tell them how to play. Also:

Spoiler!

And that was a L6.

I agree, and i say the above pic shows it.

The thing is, people don't want to lost on HoE, and if someone joins then they make it harder. They may ask for money, which the team needs more, die and RQ. That money is gone. They usually just join the lowest ping server or the highest populated; without even checking the keybindings!

They then rage a FP with a 9mm or a bullpup they found, run off on their own, start acting as the team leader, and rage at the team when they die.

Wow man.
This is like, super super old and has actually been suggested many, many moths ago by *cough* someone.

And what's with all the elitism in here "well new players got to know what they get themselves into".
No they don't. They're new players. There's really nothing to disagree or discuss about here.
Maybe instead of clawing for anything to antagonize, you should question the merits of having "any difficulty" as the out-of-box standard setting or so it still seems to be the case.
Christ.

While I in principle agree with above poster, I think the problem is that almost no servers run on beginner difficulty. If default was normal it might work out, because a lot of servers run normal diff. And as for new players being new players, a friend of mine did make this exact mistake on her first trip online: Joined a hard server at lvl 0 with less than a hundred kills of experience. A default setting of the filter would have prevented that.

Lets face it, no one rtfm untill they absolutely need to. And they need to have a bit of knowledge before venturing into hard and above.

Good point.
But then, at least, newbies would have to make the conscious effort of picking a difficulty out of a list that spells the names of each level out instead of having tiny icons that are easily mixed up with ping or connection or whatever cause they look like those symbols in cellphones (minus the bright red skull of course =P).

Well, here's what happens:
orrmmu.jpg

Then, people flame and votekick that poor sod cause you just get tired of explaining at some point.

And seeing how not even you knew about those symbols, guess whose fault this is?
Probably not the newbies.
