Dear Esther

Played through it yesterday.

Really short, very beautiful, especially the caves, and still absolutely no idea what it was about... but I liked it :p

If by 'formulaic' you mean it will predictably scare the living beejeebus out of you, I'd agree :)

I mean the opposite, formulaic predictability as in to get any kind of reaction out if you pay even bit more attension to your surroundings and use some common sense in combination you'll end up with something that has nice atmosphere but that's about it. It gets old after few minutes, even Penumbras had more moments that were somewhat less predictable.

(Alternatively I'm far too genre savvy and no developer is ballsy enough to make very troll-worthy horrorcoaster to make sure people are getting reaction out of it.)

As for Dear Esther I'll probably pick it up sooner or later, it sounds quite interesting.
