So I see a lot of people complaining about GFWL. Is it that bad? I don't think I've ever had a game that had it or if I did I can't really remember clearly.

I think it's really stupid that people are still making petitions to remove the GFWL (Yeah, there is one up right now..) They should be thankful that the game is EVEN coming to PC.

This is kinda how I feel about it ... it seems like people are looking a gift horse in the mouth on this one. It was rather unlikely that the game would ever be ported to PC in the first place, and now that we have that unlikely port, people are going to ***** about GFWL? Yes, the service sucks balls, but I've never had the system completely prevent me from enjoying a game that had it.

I can see why people hate the service, but to also ***** about it in a situation where the devs already were very gracious to listen to them in the first place seems a bit stupid to me. It's in these rare situations that I *almost* feel as if PC gamers deserve to be ignored haha.

So basically you guys are saying we should be glad we get the game and ignore the POS they impose on you for you to be able to play it? I'm extremely happy that it is coming to PC, but I won't buy it until GFWL is removed or they at least explain why they put that crap on their game at all.

Because it will save them lots of time and money by being able to use the Xbox360 netcode, or so I hear.

I agree with hockey, people need to give it a rest already over this.

Exactly, this will be a port of the Xbox360 version of the game, and thus by using GFWL they barely have to change anything about the netcode and achivements and all of that jazz, wereas it would be a fairly big amount of work to convert it all to use Steamworks or some other third-party middleware instead.

It's unfortunate though, because using GFWL absolutely will cost them sales, it's a terrible service even when it works as intended, but just as often it does not and actually prevents the game from working at all for many users, and it will prevent the game from beeing sold in many countries due to GFWL's stupid regional restrictions.

So what if it costs them to make a proper port? It's not like we owe them anything. A lot of people are acting like they donated a kidney or something. The previous Dark souls petition were just to show them there is a lot of interest in their game on the PC platform. They realized they could profit from it. They are not doing us any favors.

We have all right to be pissed about, boycott or petition again if they are doing a lazy port(which it is if they are doing it the easy, but crappy way), just like any case where developers have done the same thing.

Anyone who want Dark Souls 2 to be on PC must buy this game. Should of course make as much noise as possible about the rejection of GFWL, but I really think this is the wrong title to boycott for those who are really interested on it.

I understand your point but if we all just buy the game because we want a sequel they will know they can get away with this kind of crap.

It's really important that people make petitions and give the developers heat, even more than boycotting. They need to know that they'll probably loose more money with GFWL than the money they would have spent on their own netcode and matchmaking.

Those scenarios in which everyone do the same thing are highly unlikely, they WILL surely loose money anyway because of GFWL.

I don't disagree, and that's why I said that whoever is interested must make noise about it instead of boycotting. They should know that we don't want GFWL, but is in nobody's best interest for the game to be a complete disaster. Piracy will take all the blame as always, and that's goodbye.

The sad truth, whether GFWL makes the port easier or not, is the end result will be a crappier product and less sales. I went from definite buy to meh.

Don't care. Never had a problem with GfWL and neither has anyone in my circle.
The three seconds it takes to log in every time I start a game are mildly annoying, but platform compatible achievements are kinda nice.
Wouldn't care if there was no such thing as GfWL either though.

I feel for those who're still running Windows XP and for those who get screwed by region restrictions, but well, doesn't apply to me.:(

I actually don't really care either.

Dawn of War and FO3 had GFWL. It's not as invasive as it is annoying. Never stopped me from enjoying games though. Some people might be glad it's using GFWL instead of Steamworks anyway.

In the end I don't care either. I find GFWL tedious to use and all its value-added stuff isn't something I use. (Two clicks and some text to send someone a message on Steam. 4+ clicks and several seconds of stupid to do it in GFWL. Why would I ever use your service if I'm outside Xbox Live?)

The matchmaking is a little worrisome, but I imagine it will be ok. I do sympathize with people facing the region lockout restrictions though. They'll have no choice but to pirate a game that thrives on MP and settle just for the SP.

This. While not as bad, this is similar to the game being ported to PC with DRM that only has three activations and requires constantly online connectivity. GFWL is rather bad. But as I said, not that bad. But enough for people to complain.

Luckily, I do not care about this game so it is not an issue for me.

Does it not work on WinXP? I'm still on it.
