If there's reason for it to be dark then it should be dark and have shadows, I think they made a great job at it.

I'm sure cs:s would be a better option if some have problems seeing people or whatnot.

The full version should have a good variety of settings. The reason it looks dark and dingy atm is because Koenigsplatz is pretty dark and dingy :)

I like dark and dingy. It has a nice wartorn feel. Of course, there are plenty of maps that are bright and pretty, I can think of a couple of ports that fit the bill, but admit it, there's nothing like an smoke-covered, soot-strewn city to get you fired up. :p

this isn't call of duty my friend with bright sunny maps all over the place...although I'm sure RO will have some sun in there!

Konigs atmosphere is amazing, i love the lighting...and yes the videos are probably about 40-50% of their actual size in game with much lower frame rate, so the quality in game will be much higher...

Much of RO's combat takes place in cities that have been under constant bombardment for extended periods of time. Stalingrad and Berlin, for instance, were both pounded with bombers and artillery by invading forces who simply wanted to annihilate the enemy. Beween the smoke, the concrete and stone dust, the ongoing fires, and the rubble all over, it became a challenge for both sides to identify their enemy and not be ambushed from the wreckage all around.

RO:O does a good job of recreating that "fog of war". When you first start playing, you will most likely TK some. However, once you find what to look for, it becomes easier. Things to looks for: type of headgear (hat or helmet), sound of weapon (if all you're seeing is a muzzle flash), direction they're running, type of clothing, camouflage pattern, style of movement, and type of weapon.

Thanks for all the replys guys, i'm not trying to knock RO, i am just curious as to how good viz will be in game and if you can recognise your enemys at distance thats all, the preview shots are all dark and obviously this will cut down your recognition time etc, ive played dods a while and even with good lighting the distance you can bag an enemy isn't that great, ps i love the shots and vids etc and can't wait to get hands on, Thanks again guys, see you in RO.

It's war, it IS dark and dingy. Go play CS if you don't like it. And the reason it's hard to pick enemys out on the videos and screenshots is simply because for one, the screenshots themselves are only part of your screen, and they're poor quality
