I agree with OP.

We are ok right now but please know that this is what killed RO:OF in America.

Please spread the word. Never join a 24/7 server. They are very bad. Trust me. I watched it happen on RO1.

Without 24/7 Danzig, the only difference in RO1 server browser is instead of there being 1 Danzig server full of people there would be 0 Danzig servers full of people.

24/7 Danzig didnt kill the game, it kept it alive longer.

And if Apartments wasn't made by Tripwire we would have gotten some hideous remake the moment the SDK comes out from someone.

It's virtually impossible to prove or guess based on speculation, but if one did a survey, I wonder how many players would say they join a server based on how many people are playing not counting bots? I usually don't really look at the map before I join a game. Instead, I'll usually look at the ping and total player count.

What disturbs me is that there's indeed a point - if everyones playing only one or two servers out of the many others (again, not counting bots) with the only other server being Danzig 24/7, how many of these people are absolutely in love with Danzig versus how many just love the mechanics of RO and just want to play on a stable server lacking bots?

Again, I'm only speculating. It's impossible for me to tell. I can say that a friend and I have filled usually empty servers up in the past simply by being there and playing against one another and one by one, we saw more and more people. That same server stayed full for about a week before it "died" again. Granted, this was on an entirely different game, but I do wonder if it's more about how many people are playing.

Ping is what I look at first, followed by number of people. I won't play firefight game mode since it's absurd to me and there is one clan's server i won't play on because they can't stand than my clan name is part of my Steam name.

Even in a game as hardcore as RO, the majority just want to run and gun so we get servers like 24/7 danzig and 24/7 apartments. Literally nobody wants anything different.

Do some of ya'll realize that the argument that "24/7 Danzig killed RO:OST" is a fallacy in logic?

Do you think all those people playing on the Danzig servers would have continued playing Ost without those servers? They obviously continued playing the game in large part due to Danzig. It's entirely realistic that without 24/7 danzig servers, Ost would have died off much sooner.

Let me sum it up; correlation does not imply causation.

Some of you would benefit from studying a little bit of philosophy.
