Ok, I'm in a silly mood. Here are some of the dafter ideas for mods/maps to Ostfront that I can come up with, while keeping them in the "correct" vein of being historically accurate and realism-based:
1. The Italian invasion of Abyssinia, about 1936, from memory. Italians armed with pre-war tanks take on the local tribesmen armed mostly with spears. The Italians win - just!
2. The planned British invasion of Madagascar (or was it Mauritius?) during the war... lovely beaches, warm sun, a few beers...
3. We could go back in time - the Battle of Omdurman. Another great British military triumph. Using nice modern rifles, cannon and Gatling guns, the gallant thin red line manages to slaughter some 20,000 Dervishes, armed mostly with camel dung. Note that the Dervishes never even got close enough to throw anything - they insisted on charging en masse across 1,000 metres of open desert. I think the British casualties were about 7, including the tea-boy who burnt his fingers on the kettle.
4. I suppose we could counter that one with the Battle of Isaldwana during the Zulu wars. This time the Brits, using the same old tactics, managed to get themselves completely slaughtered, as the Zulus caught them napping and got in amongst them. Messy. Very messy.
5. We could do the Boer Woer... but the Brits have to have crouching and prone disabled, as it simply wasn't done, old chap. Have to jolly well stand up like men and be shot at.
Come on - silly ideas from real conflicts please
