Scenario:

French team spawn in Maginot Line style bunkers and fortified defenses. They cannot exit their defenses.

German team walks around Maginot Line and captures the tactically significant stash of white flags.

Hmmm... perhaps the idea needs a bit of work...

u could always try to recreate Gallipoli... Lots of Australians getting slaughterd while getting up from the trenches running straight for the Germans machine gunns 50 000 died in about 30 minutes.. Bloody stupid idea

Actually at Gallipoli the Aussies were fighting Turks and 50,000 did not die in 30 minutes.

It was a very stupid (British) idea.

I can't tell you guys how much I would love to see anything WW1 Ro styleee . Some really gritty western front trench combat would be swuhheeeeat (sweat) . Even though I am more of an infantry kind of guy those early tanks could be really cool and combined arms we would finally see infantry following tanks movinmg slowly.Oh man.

I would be keen on an actual Mex-American war (or there abouts) mod..

Ww1 would be cool only because of two battles:
2nd Ypres (or any of the equally big uses of gas attacks.. but Ypres is a good example)
Battle of the Somme (debut of the British Mk1.. I love that tank!)

The Finnish front 1940 -45. They fought both the Russian and the Germans.

Include the minor Axis allies on the eastern front: Italy, Hungary, Rumania and Bulgaria. Would probably only be balanced (and fun to play) in the early part if the war. I read somewhere that when the Russian encircled Stalingrad they over ran Rumanian troops who were still eqippped with WWI FT 17 tanks

Ok, I'm in a silly mood. Here are some of the dafter ideas for mods/maps to Ostfront that I can come up with, while keeping them in the "correct" vein of being historically accurate and realism-based:

1. The Italian invasion of Abyssinia, about 1936, from memory. Italians armed with pre-war tanks take on the local tribesmen armed mostly with spears. The Italians win - just!

Didn't the tribes men attack the tanks by stabbing their swords and spears through the viewing hatches and killing the crew? (or I am I thinking of the Spanish in Morroco in the 1920s? )

What we need are new classes for RO:

The DogMine! Respawn as dog with an Satchel charge strapped to your back! Faster than the BA 64 and harder to hit. To reflect history you recive 5 points for TK russian tanks.

The Commisar! To inspire the troops you recieve 1 point (or add 1% to reinforcements) for every soldier you shoot who is lying prone on the ground. Death to cowards! Charge!!!!! If you the TK the commisar and no one is looking recieve 5 points/ +5%

Now we've had the Dog-mine suggestion so many times - but never as first person. Sorry, first "dog". Does that mean the voice command menu would consist of "Woof", "Grrr" and "Pantpantpant"? I guess your primary weapon would be the M41 Toothski? Secondary weapon could be the renowned "leg lift".

As for the Commissar, I reckon you'd only score points for TKing him when no-one else is looking?

Ok, not a whacky mod by any means, but after reading Anthony Beevor's "The Battle for Spain," a Spanish Civil War mod would be really cool. (I'll post my whacky mod idea later).

Spain, 1937...loads of new vehicles, weapons, and a great mix of WW1 and inter-war weapons (I think the Panzer I could be included). Not to mention hybrid armies (esp the international brigade of the Republicans and the Nazi German advisors) and great maps...

The Spanish Civil War?

Now there's an idea - first outing for the T-26 and a whole host of French stuff. More different manufacturers' weps than you could shake a stick at, Berettas, Mausers, Lee-Enfields, Arisakas, Springfields, Lebels, Mannlichers, Mosins, Steyr-Kropatchek's, Ross, Thommies, Ermas, Suomi, Hotchkiss, Maxim, MG-34's, ZB-30's, some MG's you never even heard of.

Voice commands for the international brigades in random languages: will it be French, Italian, English, Spanish, Bulgarian, Croat? Who knows? Hit the 'v' key and find out.

The Anarchists have the option, as well as map voting, of voting whether to fight at all or not.

Maps including the Ebro, Teruel, Brunete, Guadalajara, Belchite, Suicide Hill etc. etc.

I'll do the research and take the photos if Tripwire will pay for me to spend the rest of the summer in a villa out there (I could get one quite cheap)
