Custom squads.

I want a system where before a battle, the commander can setup the squads as he pleases.

So you could be simple and just have the whole team be one big squad, or have 3 ten man squads with mixed classes, or put all the assault in one squad, have many different small squads etc.

Of course there would be a limit to actual squads leader classes, so its not like you could have 10 squad leaders.

I don't want to be limited to 3 squads, some maps may be require different tactics.

It wouldn't be that complex, what if you wanted anti tank guys to be separate?
In that case there should be class restrictions within the squad, so there wouldn't be squads composed only by riflemen and others only by SMG gunners, unless TWI allows the creation of specialist squads. If the team is well organised, I'd love to see a Sturmpioneer squad that would focus on demolitions and tank hunter squads that would do the anti-tanking, but that would only work if there were like eight squads of four men willing to work together, and as far as we know, there won't be more than 3 or 4 squads. Anyway, I'm derailing the thread by starting this topic.

I think the squads or gruppen should be laid out the way they actually would have been during the battle. It adds to the realism and also you wont have people exploiting it either with a full group of anti-tank soldiers or MG gunners.

I think 3 is a rather god number of squads to have fixed. Doesn't the officer basically only assign what objective a certain squad should defend/attack while the squad leader do the more fine work. Do you really need more? I agree that the officer should be able to design the squads.

I've done this as commander in ROOST , well sort of. Tell all the riflemen to go to one area, all of the autos / smgs to another. I'm not sure it would really require setting up squads to make it work in ROHOS.

However if the only voip we are going to get is squad/team/global then it would be very necessary to put people who are to work together into a squad together.
