Custom Maps dont work?

For everyone,we had put some of them on our servers,and we got mixed feedback like this :

- Some people can download the map from our server with no problem
- Some get Error: While opening file
- Some just get lost connection to the host

We pretty much set up everything correct via re-direct,so i wanted to post some feedback from players.

I think i might know what the issue is though,people try to join via matchmaking alot so i think once they get put into a custom server they get the error.

Your opinions?

Really? So you have it setup and some get the error and some it downloads huh? Thats interesting. I'm the only one testing my server and I always get that error msg. Cannot open file. So there is something more to this.

They work, You just haave to kno what yo uare doing, You may have a redirect but if youre not uploading the correct way it wont work,, And the reason whhy some get error is because they dont have the map installed , And the people that have no error , probably already have the maps installed. Remember youre not the only one running servers with custom maps.

dude im a web dev. I know what im doing. I have my own VPS that I've been running/making websites on for years.

Its not really hard to use an FTP to upload the files to your maps folder and add 2 lines to your ini. Then go to your web server and put the files in the place where you specified the redirect.

I wasn't doubting that you got it to work. I said its interesting that some ppl are downloading it from your server fine and some are getting the error message. You would think it would be one or the other. Either everyone downloads the file from your server. Or everyone gets the error message UNLESS they have the map already installed. So if that was the case how would you know that some are able to download it just fine?

Also what do you mean "uploading the correct way"?

So how did you upload your redirects?

add 2 lines to your ini.

That might be your problem assuming that you are referring to the lines to set the redirect. make sure there not already in the PCServer-KFEngine.ini, I originally put it in the wrong ini file but it was already there in the KFEngine.ini.

Turns out they were not in the engine file. Although there were three options in the engine file that i did need

Not only do you have to do the options that it says in the wiki

but you also need to go to
PCServer-KFEngine.ini and change 3 things

Under the header
[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]

AllowDownloads=True
AllowPeerConnections=True
and
MaxDownloadSize=Something REALLY high. I changed mine to 5000000000

Now works like a charm
