Custom Maps and Web Admin

Ok, I have tried and tried, but for some reason there are some custom maps that will just NOT show in WebAdmin for me to add to the rotation.

I have searched for an answer and can't seem to find one anywhere.

Yes, I rebooted the server, even stopped it for a time and then restarted it.

I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

Have you added them to your server.ini file?
(Usually KillingFloor.ini)
Down at the bottom of that file you'll find this section:

The second addition will place it immediately into rotation and selectable in the mapvote list.
This line is automagically added if you put the map into rotation via the WebAdmin console.

You must then save the file and restart the server to have the changes take affect.

IF you have copied them to the server map folder and changed the current map manually to refresh the 'Maps not in cycle' then they will DEFINITELY appear in the webadmin Defaults > Maps > Maps not in cycle window. Then you need to move them over to you Maps in cycle window and save.

I did add the .rom files to the server MAPS folder. Rebooted server.

Added the .uz2 compressed files to our redirect location.

Went into WebAdmin and and a few showed up but the others did not.... no matter what I tried.

The maps I am having issues with are KF-Asylum, KF-Castle, KF-LandofSlaughter and KF-Downtown.

Will keep looking for the answer.

There were 6 maps I uploaded. Asylum, Castle, Downtown, LandOfSlaughter, Medieval and Tao. Restarted the server.

Then uploaded the .uz2 files for those maps to our redirect. Entered WebAdmin and only Medieval and Tao where in the list to be added to rotation.

Went back and checked the .ini file and those other four maps are NOT being added to the .ini file in order to show in WebAdmin.

I am at a loss why two worked as always and those four won't.

Hmm i pretty sure those maps also come with "textures" or "StaticMeshes" ,don't mind me asking , but did you insalled also textures into textures and if StaticMeshes to StaticMeshes??

yeah I'm sure kf-asylum comes with extra usx and utx files, so when the server tries to import this map it will be looking for them. check the server log, you will see package errors if you don't have those files copied to the right place.

*.usx goes in the .\staticmesh folder, *.utx goes in the .\textures folder, they get compressed and uploaded to your redirect in same place as maps.

Yes, Asylum does come with textures and static mesh files. I will do what you suggest.

What about some maps that also come with .ogg music files? I have read that they cannot be compressed and redirected??

There are a couple of great maps that come with .rom, .utx, .usx and the .ogg files.

ogg you can take it or leave it, the clients won't download them either way. those have to be installed manually if you want to hear them, so there's actually no point to install them on the server because of this.

Well, I am still at a loss. I took one map,Asylum. It comes with .utx (textures) and .usx (staticmeshes).

I installed the utx to Textures folder and usx to staticmeshes folder on the server. The .rom file is in the Maps folder. Restarted server and the map will still not show in WebAdmin to add to rotation.

I looked and the map is NOT being added to the killingfloor.ini file as it should.

This problem described above I have experienced with several maps so far and have not been able to resolve the issue.

But I do certainly appreciate everyones advice and suggestions. Thx again.

well have you checked your ucc output? the startup routines for the dedicated server will always show exactly what is going on when importing maps, this gets done before starting the actual server on every map load. this output also gets logged in ucc.log by default iirc.

I went and checked the ucc log. Here are some entries on maps I had mentioned above that I can not get to work. It's Greek to me but see if you have an idea.

So you can see, other than the DOTZ Buildings Textures which came with downtown,
the other common errors for the maps are the 2k4Menu and circus2 issues.

On Asylum it is not find the KF-Asylum Package??

Found this here in these forums concerning the 2k4Menu problem.

I knew these maps had worked before and the latest patches had to have something to do with it.

I did get Asylum to show up in WebAdmin after I added the .utx and .usx files to the Main KF folder, not the texture or staticmeshes folders, which I had tried with no success.

yeah certain maps/mods need that texture file, it can be copied directly from your client install. something is wrong if maps are running mesh and texture files from your install root, I would rerun hlds update tool to verify your install, and make sure everything has been updated all the way, and start with a fresh copy of killingfloor.ini. you can just copy/rename default.ini to killingfloor.ini for a clean version.

Thx kingkong for all your help.

I did just copy 2k4menus.utx from my own game and uploaded it to our server. Quite a few maps showed up then.

I currently have all the problem maps I had working now. There is one map however, Suburbia from the whitelist.

.ucc log shows it requires "SuburbiSounds" and can not find such a file anywhere. It did NOT come with the download, the file only came with a .rom file. Good map but need this file to make it work on a server. Can play it solo however.

Nevermind.............. found it! Doh.... :-(
