Custom Map Loading Screen and Intro Ability

Hey fellows,

as I've yet plans for some maps I like to build for HoS I questioned myself if there is a chance of designing loading screens for my maps? For example taking a screenshot of the map and having this as the loading screen.
Now about the reasonable question: What if there's no custom screenshot for the game available to load? How about just simply switching to an RO standard Loading screen?

Also it would be nice if one was able to add a short intro, maybe a short clip/ scripted scene to give the players a good atmospheric boost. It could be also nice to give a text message/pure audio to the players as an intro. Maybe some hints or a short mission briefing. Mission briefing is a good catch, particularly it would be extremely nice if the Red Army gets a different briefing than the Wehrmacht. If it's with video and/or audio each could have their native language, with subs of course ;)


I've always tried to bring much atmosphere to my maps so I want to continue this with HoS and I'd be glad if TWI supports this attempts. :)

I agree. I think all maps should have their own loading screen.

Makes it easier for new players. When you load a map, either a unique map or screen shot of the map is displayed to let people know which map it is before they have to join the game.

As it is now, it can be showing a screenshot for Danzig when you are playing Stalingrad.

Not a big deal, but would be nice. Should not be that hard to do either.

i would personally prefer an aereal/overhead map with the capzones and stuff and a small screenshot somewhere.

So that people can read up a bit what they are supposed to do.

something that's always bugged me about the game but never got around to posting about it. people see a ss of Danzig and they're deploying to lenningrad :rolleyes:

the main laoding screen with screenie in the background, deploying to etc... on the bottom, and at least 50% of the screen with an arial map and objectives. would greatly help "educating" players

Yep, I guess it does:

I can remember too well when I first got to RO, this was the 3.0 beta (I previously thought it was 2.8 :), all I can remember to identify which version is that it was the first mod version with vehicles). So the very first game was on MoscowHighway and after I managed to get a class I was walking around on the map with actually no intel what I shall do. With no real idea for direction I just headed up to the trenches cause I heard some shooting there. Up there I managed my first kill ... I bashed a BOT! :D
Still I had no idea what I was doing.


Well let's stop here, but I guess this is a real good example how newcomers and even some advanced players will feel like. Large map and no idea where to go/run to.

I don't know if anyone of you played MoH Airborne (I know

There is a mod for HL2 called Insurgency which is realismbased like RO.
It has very good loading screens, you always see the next map with the objectives, so you know right from the start how the objective looks like.

If we get something similar in HOS it would be great.
