I know this has been discussed in ROOS, but I really need to know this.

Will devs add Cupola Mounted Machineguns to the Tanks ? As a commander it would really be handy.

and is the hull machinegun available ? correct me if I'm wrong but since the loader is A.I and the loader is the one who fires the hull machinegun does that mean that the hull machinegun is unavailable ?

Are the devs going to include realistic animations when exiting the tank? i.e opening the hatch, squeezing out and climb down the hull, instead of instantly exiting the tank ?

Are tank crewmen equipped with machineguns or whatever ? cause they usually had them in their tanks in case of abandonment of the tank or any other issue concerning self defense.

thank you all.

thank you all.

-the hull gunner is a separate position from the loader
-tank crewman don't enter or leave the tank they start off in it and cannot leave
-look at the threads at the top of this section to get answers quickly and to not take up forum space.

sigh...

The LOADER was only loading the maingun of the tank.
The HULLMACHINEGUNNER was at the mg, and had to operate the radio.

exiting the tank is no more necessary. so no need for animation or weapons for the tankcrew.

For the cupola counted Machinegun: good idea, but I think they were not used on the tankmodels in 1941?

Not really, i don't recall anything about earlier model tanks with a mounted gun. In fact I don't even know if the germans did this at all with any regularity. Same pretty much applies to Russia, except the occasional IS2 had an DShK mounted.

At that time, using a mg in such a manner would be suicide, the hull and coax mgs were seen as plenty enough. The infantry can handle anything else.

It would be sweet as hell if the commander could pop out of the top cupola and mount the MG if necessary. But I wouldn't count on it.

I'll quickly correct my previous post, there were some german tanks mounted with mgs but still wasn't that common. I think if this was implemented an infantry player should be be the one who can use the mg since tank members can't leave the tank, and most mounted mgs require standing behind the turret.

That would be even better, if an infantry man could hop on the tank and use the turret MG! But still, don't count on it.

I believe cupola mounted AA MG's were only mid, late war.
Operated by the Commander on German vehicles, and not sure about the Russian counterpart.

I don't think they were very popular.
Most pictures I've seen the ring-bracket that the MG should be mounted on is empty.

Thanks for the answers guys :3 Will there be a radio operator ? I wouldn't mind manning the machinegun and report targets to the rest of the battalion.

The machinegun is just that in ROOS the commander just targets and hides at least that's what I think, adding that machine gun would be sweet to gun down targets to the sides of the tank or something :3

The panther for example had the mg mounted, produced from 42-45 :3

As already mentioned, the AA mg (usually MG-34) that was mounted on top of the coupola was usually stowed inside the tank and was only used for AA defence.

Using it in an anti-infantry role doesn't make much sense, as the distances at which it would be safe to use would be way exceeded by the hull and coaxial mg's that have proper optics and a stable mounting. This is why I highly doubt that it was used in a direct anti-infantry role.

But c'mon imagine just how badass it would be to pull an Audy Murphy and hop on the MG and mow down your enemies from a completely exposed position!

Cupola mounted mg would be interesting. Another achievement opportunity for shooting out tank commanders.:p

If they ever add IS2, I hope we will be able to use the holy rear firing mg. Spin the turret and rain death on enemies in all directions with dual machineguns, or maybe 3 if we have a cupola mounted MG.
